Thailand along with 34 other countries abstained from a United Nations vote to condemn Vladimir Putin and Russia's annexation of four eastern regions of Ukraine, saying it would reduce the chances of finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis.


143 members including Singapore, Cambodia and the Philippines voted in favor of the motion, while four countries rejected it.
  

3 Thai nationals were found to be infected with  ‘XBB’ a new strain of Covid 19. They were in a group of 29 people who tested positive after arriving in Hong Kong.


Doctors were surprised at the Thai infections as this strain has not yet been detected in Thailand.


Others in the group came from Singapore, India, Indonesia, the U.S, the U.K, the UAE and the Czech Republic.   

 

A woman was rescued by police after she was held Captive and badly beaten in a room in Phatthalung, 
Special forces stormed the apartment and found the woman had bruises on her face and several broken ribs, she was taken to hospital.


A 27 year old man was apprehended,  wanted for the torture and killing another 26 year old woman in Bangkok in July, she went to his apartment after meeting on a dating app, she was held captive for about a month and beaten to death. 

 

A badly decomposed body was found by a Myanmar national yesterday in woods on Koh Phangan Island, 


The remains are believed to be that of a Russian man, friends identified the body as the 30 year old who went missing from a hospital about a month ago.

 

Homes in parts of Bangkok and Samut Prakan were flooded again yesterday after the Chao Phraya river overflowed.


Meanwhile prime minister Prayut managed to avoid residents ready to throw bags of fish sauce at him during an inspection of flooded areas.

North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile into the sea off its east coast early this morning, earlier South Korea's military scrambled fighter jets when a group of about 10 North Korean military aircraft flew close to the border dividing the two countries.  

 

China: The number of Covid 19 cases in Shanghai has jumped to a three-month high of 47,  authorities rolled out restrictions to other major cities across the country,


While small by international standards, the flare-up is occurring  just days before China’s President Xi Jinping is expected to secure a precedent-breaking third term in power.
