Football - Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been remanded into custody in Manchester after appearing in court charged with attempted rape.The 21-year-old was also charged with assault and repeatedly engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.He was arrested in January amid allegations surrounding images and videos that emerged online.

 

Real Madrid and France forward Karim Benzema has won the Ballon d'Or - awarded to the best footballer of the year - for the first time.Benzema scored 44 goals in 46 games as he helped Real win the Champions League and La Liga in 2021-22 and Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has retained the Women's award for the best best female footballer of 2022.

 

Formula 1 - McLaren F1 boss Zak Brown has written a letter to governing body the FIA in which he says Red Bull breaking the budget cap "constitutes cheating". Brown calls for penalties that will hit Red Bull financially and on the track. Brown adds the FIA should "communicate subsequent action and penalties at pace to maintain the integrity of F1".

 

Cricket - Scotland, ranked 15th in the world, started their Men's T20 World Cup campaign in brilliant fashion by shocking two-time winners West Indies.Chasing 161 to win, the West Indies were bowled out for 118, and lost by 42 runs in Group B. Zimbabwe beat Ireland by 31 runs in also in Group B.
