sandyfromoz Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Hello!!! I was wondering if there were any special requirements for setting up a bank account?. It would be for personal use (non business). Just to put money in when I travel between Oz and Thailand. I will have a Thai address, and am married to a Thai national. Any help would be great!!! Cheers sandyfromoz

Cheers sandyfromoz If you do it in a joint name I doubt it will be a problem, but I've not done that. I managed ti open an account in my own name last year. The main issue I faced was that the first bank I went in (I think it was Bangkok Bank - can't remember exactly now) wouldn't do it because I only had a Visa for a month, and they wanted a three-month visa at least. So I walked down the road to Ayuthya Bank, who were very accommodating and opened an account with no fuss. I went armed with plenty of documentation as backup, but in the end the only thing they actually wanted was my passport (of which they photocopied EVERY page - and I've got a lot of stamps), and I had to sign every page copied. They also needed a Thai address. Artamus
