Liz Truss: What the world is saying about UK turmoil

Featured Replies

Liz Truss became the United Kingdom's new prime minister in September, succeeding Boris Johnson, who resigned in July after a series of scandals.

Truss, 47, defeated rival Rishi Sunak in the Conservative Party leadership contest, and she follows Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May as Britain's third female premier.

Throughout her political career, Truss has been compared to Thatcher, who, for many on the right, remains the benchmark for Conservative leaders. Like Thatcher, Truss has come from relatively humble beginnings to dominate a world inhabited largely by men.

*Deleted post edited out* Getting rid of Johnson was a positive move, it’s nobody but the Tories fault that they replaced him with an even bigger mess.

I suggest you read the article, then let me know if it’s’just the Guardian’.

  • But it is just as well they did make a big deal of his lies, corruption and incompetence.

The misogyny is strong on this one.

Let's give this woman a bit of time, instead of becoming hysterical every time she makes a decision that the left wing MSM don't like.

Your assertion of misogyny is in need of evidence that the criticisms of Truss are made on the basis of her gender and not on her abundant failings.

Nobody is becoming ‘hysterical’ every time she makes a decision, though she has been known to spook the financial markets.

The Guardian is not "the UK press" it is just one of many, so called, newspapers making up the "UK press"!

I’m not a member of the Conservative Party, I had no say in the matter, nor do I suspect did anyone on this forum.

I'm betting a lot of people are wishing they hadn't made such a big deal of Boris having a glass of wine and a piece of cake.

But it is just as well they did make a big deal of his lies, corruption and incompetence.

The Tory MPs who got rid of him disagree.

I didn't ask if you were a member of the Conservative party. Lovely dodge though ????.

Congratulations. Your post appears to have a higher approval rating than Liz Truss.

The question was "Who WOULD you have supported?". Not "Who DID you support?".

Let's make it a bit more simple for you. When the half a dozen or so candidates were announced, at that time even though you are not a Conservative party member and even though you had no say, who did you think might do the job better than others.

Now, before you reply that you can't as you are not this or not that or don't have this or that, remember that even though you don't, you still feel qualified to state opinions on Boris and Liz.

Answer........

I don't support any Conservative politicians.

Come to think of it I don't support any Labour politicians either.

All greedy, self-serving losers.

Only because we cannot use any non-positive responses without typing out a critical response which then gets another response etc, etc

"likes" etc are now a waste of time and no indication of the readers true feelings towards a post!

The woke brigade are now in charge so either like or not respond at all is the new future on this and many other similar forums!

It’s not a dodge, it’s a recognition of a fact.

Nobody outside of the Conservative Party had any say in the matter.

Asking people outside of the Tory Party is pointless.

This is all on the Tories.

 No, not biting.

Stick with the Subject of discussion, Liz Truss, a wholly Tory choice.

A wholly Tory mess.

Excellent answer. Straight out of the opposition's book of "how to avoid giving a straight answer".

Let's criticise everything and everyone but give no alternatives.

Sorry, you don’t get to choose what I decide to post about.

That’s not how any of this works.

……..

Meanwhile Nadine Dorries has gone full gas nuts, demanding the return of ‘Boris’.

Again, I’m not a member of the Tory Party, I get to have zero say in who will inevitably replace Truss.

I doubt anyone on this forum does.

I was asking your opinion. If you prefer not to say who you would have preferred, that's fine.
