Cancel the licence to have her on public display and refuse any certificate to move her unless to a designated ZOO .

How?  The ape lives in a licenced zoo that has not done anything illegal nor does it mistreat the animal.

It shows how useless the authorities are when they can't even save a gorilla.

The animal is in a licenced zoo, what is there for it to be "saved" from when the only alternative for it would be another zoo?

the greedy a/whole should pay for the cost to transport the poor animal.

Transport it to where?  Another zoo?

Back in the U.K. people would never accept this kind of happening .

You think that there are no zoos in the UK?!

Get that primate out and let's hope (s)he will survive any trip to any less brutal, more common-sense making land. Absolutely despicable ........

Exactly what "despicable, brutal treatment" is the ape experiencing?  It is in a licenced zoo.

Thailand has cruelty to animals laws. Someone simply needs to prove it is cruelty.

There has been numerous attempts to have Pata Zoo closed down but all have failed.

I suspect Vinai Sermsirimongkol has high friends in high places.

In saying that Cher has been campaigning to have the Gorilla freed, am sure the 795k asking price would not put a ripple in her 350m+ net worth !!

No one should pay the owner of the gorilla  a brass farthing. Sad for the gorilla but she'll have to suffer to stop this kind of blackmail happening again.

Or viewing it another way. If the gentleman in question considers the animal to be a business asset then it needs to be converted into a business liability.

Surely there are laws regarding keeping an animal in unsuitable conditions

But the animal is not being kept in particularly unsuitable conditions, it's in a legal zoo.

Very Sad to see this kind of cruelty.

You mean the "cruelty" of a zoo just like the zoos that exist in your  country also?

The owner will only sell for 30 million baht

????

The owner has since stated that claim was false, that the animal is not for sale and no offers are being considered.

This is absolutely disgusting and wicked of the so called Greedy Owner. Why buy something he knows he cannot take good care...

Where has it been credibly reported that the Pata Zoo "cannot take good care of the ape"?

There is no asking price, it's not for sale.

If she did get her liver-spotted hands  on it the first thing she'd do would be to book it in for facial plastic surgery.

Captitivity of gorillas may not be ideal in any circumstances but there are zoos and zoos. Gorillas at Melbourne Zoo in Australia have plenty of room. In March they introduced 'platform stations - complete with vertical tree trunks, a multi-platform swing structure and a hammock - have been carefully designed to allow the primates to climb, swing and play, creating new opportunities for exercise and exploration that encourage natural movement and behaviours.'

The situation for this gorilla, alone and in relatively poor conditions, may be within Thai law but is it not reasonable for people to consider it is not appropriate.

it has no freedom, it is not in its natural habitat, it can't interact with any of its fellow natural species.

It is basically a in a human prison for life and this needs to end, it is cruelty beyond imagination.

What makes you say that it is in "poor conditions", have you seen it first hand?

So what "despicable, brutal treatment" is it being subjected to?  No zoos anywhere give wild animals their freedom nor their natural habitat and those two circumstances do not constitute "despicable, brutal treatment".

No but there's youtube and you can see the videos and compare them to videos of western zoos where there are clearly better conditions and the  gorillas are not alone. The latter being an important aspect of the issue at hand.

No

Ok, then.

That's been refuted as false information by the owner, the animal is not for sale.

You are making out my only reply is no.

But modern technology allows us to see the conditions and we can get first hand accounts from others. I haven't paid to go to a zoo for some years and I would not pay to see this one.

Your apparent conclusion that that makes my argument invalid indicates poor logic and reasoning. I noted that a major concern is that the gorilla is alone. Is seeing it going to make a second one magically appear. Compare videos of this zoo and western zoo gorilla enclosures and one may draw conclusions.

Your decision that a gorilla held alone in these conditions is acceptable is not a decision with which I concur.
