12-year-old boy praised for administering CPR to child saved from drowning

A 12-year-old boy was lauded by the chief of Bangkok’s Min Buri district, Sakchai Saisuk, for administering CPR, which he learned at a rescue foundation, to a 6-year-old boy who had just been saved from drowning in a canal.

 

On Saturday, the district chief praised the boy, Siraphat Sri-ngarm, a Grade 6 student from Sala Khu School, for his instinctive action in administering CPR to the victim, until he regained consciousness, began to breathe again and could be rushed to a hospital.

 

He also thanked the Rom Sai Foundation for sending a rescue unit to the scene so quickly.

Well done! With all the drownings they have here they need more swimming and CPR training. Better to have training and actually DO something instead of just standing around and filming the dead person with your phone to post on social media.

Agree with all the comments here... Well done to the young chap.

 

I also strongly agree with the comments on here regarding training for all - this example should drive the message home to all authorities, schools and people in positions of decision making power that water safety and first aid skills are an essential facet of education and really need to be implemented in the curriculum across the nation....

.... not just Thailand, all countries....  And then... Add road safety and driver / rider education while they’re at it, electrical safety too... 

.... So many unnecessary deaths can be avoided with education alone.
