Lazada Getting More Devious

Featured Replies

Has anybody else experienced the following  lately?

On the Lazada website, you'll click on an item and it shows price and shipping cost. You put it into your cart and either the price is higher or the shipping is higher or sometimes, both.

Tonight I was buying a sauce I like. Quoted B75 for the sauce, B25 shipping.  Put it into the cart and suddenly the sauce was B82 and the shipping B38.  That's a B20 jump.

I've noticed it on other items as well.  What sucks more, if you return to the item in the listings, the higher price shows, not the initial price.

That's quite a nasty algorithm they've come up with.  Obviously figuring people will buy it anyway...after all, just a few more Baht.

I dont go with the notion that there is some algorythm or hidden gremlin at work.

Lastly, the sellers control most of these factors not Lazada who mostly provide the platform for others to sell upon.

Shipping is misleading, they can say free shipping then when you go to checkout it's 38 baht or the max you can discount is 25 baht.

Got my first shipping discount on Shopee yesterday, using ShopeePay, they make it difficult though vs Lazada easy

Yes, have seen it and for items considerably more pricey. It's never been so much so that it put me off purchasing.

Yes I like shopee, however, payment proceedure sucks.

The shipping will vary according to location.  And some vendors will do that on all websites not just Lazada.  It’s sometimes referred to as a teaser price.  But here we are talking about around 53 cents more in USD  for both product and shipping.  Not a significant increase

I have seen this but believe it may be a sale price listed for a specific time so if buy or put in box outside of that time reverts to full price.  But I could be wrong and indeed it does happen (as have been caught by it also).  It may also be the airline seat price - if someone show interest or buys the price goes up for next customer.  Not nice in any case.  The two things Lazada has over Shopee in my buying is much faster shipments and accepting foreign CC.

Never happened to me, I buy a lot on Lazada.

What's difficult about the payment procedure? I just choose debit/credit card and check out. It's as easy as any other site I've used.

Many many missleading ads on Lazada. I ordered rear brake 'shoes' for my car as clearly shown on the Bendix box displayed. Brake Pads are what was in the GIRLING box i received, along with some free chewing gum .

It might  be that they have some software algorithm that changes the price according to popularity of any item. Or if coming from  outside Thailand, due to currency fluctuations.

I had a similar thing on Aliexpress the other week. I watched the price of an item change daily in a particular store. I put it down to dollar fluctuations.

I stopped watching it for a week or so, checked it again yesterday and the price had  dropped.

Not talking big numbers. Ranged from THB5000 to THB5100.

I've never seen this, and shop everyday on this thing.

It may simply be that you are not logged in correctly, or choosing a shipping or payment option that is not the least expensive?

Perhaps it's applying coupons on multiple orders in a way you are not noticing?

Except you can not use a foreign issued card.

On shopee and on Lazada I was looking for a new tyre for my bicycle and found the size I wanted for 320 Baht but when I went to the shopping basket the price was 760 Baht.

That is the price of the tyre not including the shipping cost.

I bought it in a local cycle shop for 275 Baht + travel costs.

Well we are in Thailand, why wouldn't you have a local bank account?

I found shoddy non genuine products a problem with them. JD Central gives shoppers a warranty o prevent this.

Sorry but you are wrong, I clicked on an item but when the site opened (for the same item) the price was significantly higher. Shipping was a separate listed cost. My guess, just a way to trick you into opening the site. Where are the controls to prevent this sort of dishonesty.

I agree and Lazada , it seems , do not vet/ appraise their sellers and Lasada hide behind the fact that they are purely a platform for sellers but for me they guilty by way of association  with the sellers . However this is Thailand that often offers little protection to buyers .

I have used Lazada many times and mostly they give a decent service . However they should inspect their vendors to ensure that the customer receives a genuine product at the correct price .

I have notified Shopee I will never buy from them again. Two times burned never again.

What really annoys me is at the same time as they're ignoring vendors who rip off customers by selling counterfeit goods on their platform, their PR department is sending out articles with titles like: "Lazada takes a firm stand against counterfeit goods, alongside global brand partners".

That’s the tricky sellers, not Lazada, but it is definitely misleading. For sure Lazada (which is not a Thai company) should take closer order of things.

The cologne ads, in my experience, do state that they’re 1ml, 2ml or whatever. For the miniscule price, a bottle is unlikely to be supplied.

Many listings on Lazada require deep scrutiny so as to avoid disappointment(s).

Well for the benefit of everyone here, lets have the item or link to it, so we can all see this anomaly in action ?

My difficulty is actually logging in most times it is OK, about 1 in 5 times it is not and I have to go through security checks and get a one time security no. This is despite being a regular customer for many years and using the same email and password. This company sure sucks badly.

Did I say I did not have a local bank account?   Because direct bank transfer payment was previously accepted.  Lazada/Tops/Lotus/The Pizza Co have no issues with my Chase card - but Shopee will not accept.

What's so different or sucks so much about Shopee's payment procedure?  I've just placed an order and clicked on the card that I've registered and the purchase was completed with an OTP...almost exactly the same procedure as Lazada but perhaps takes ten seconds longer to input the OTP.

Don't hold your breath!   Wonder why Lazada-bashing and Shopee-bashing has become so popular here lately, I never have any problems with orders as long as I read the information first!

Okay but if you have a locally issued debit card then I don't see your problem. I wasn't aware you can't use bank transfers any more - they don't offer that Airpay option now then?

Many times the Free shipping is for their area only. Believe it or not
