Cricket - Sri Lanka Cricket have suspended Danushka Gunathilaka after he was charged with raping a woman in Sydney. The 31 year old has been charged with four counts of sexual intercourse without consent while at the T20 World Cup in Australia. He was denied bail by a court in Sydney.

 

Football - In Spain's La Liga last night Real Madrid were beaten 3-2 at Rayo Vallecano. 

 

Liverpool have drawn holders Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League in a repeat of last season's final. English Premier League champions Manchester City face German side RB Leipzig, while Tottenham Hotspur play Italian giants AC Milan.

 

Chelsea also have German opposition in Borussia Dortmund. French champions Paris St-Germain have drawn Bayern Munich. Highlights from the Europa knockout round play-off includes Manchester United drawn against Barcelona. Jose Mourinho's Roma side will play FC Salzburg, while Juventus face Nantes.  

 

EPL side Southampton have sacked their manager Ralph Hasenhuttl in the wake of Sunday's 4-1 home defeat by Newcastle. He was appointed in December 2018 and leaves  with the club in the Premier League relegation zone with 12 points after 14 games and Liverpool's owners say they "would consider new shareholders" following reports that the club is up for sale..

 

FSG who bought the club in 2010 said it "remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch".
