Bangkok, Nov 9 (TNA) – Staff of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration collected 572,602 Krathong baskets from water sources in the Loy Krathong festival last night, up 42% from last year’s amount, and there was not a single Styrofoam Krathong basket collected in seven districts.

BMA spokesman Ekwaranyu Amrapan said City Hall workers collected 572,602 Krathong baskets from water last night, up from 403,203 baskets in the Loy Krathong festival last year. The number rose by 169,367 baskets or 42%.

Of the collected Krathong baskets, 548,086 baskets or 95.7% were made from natural materials and 24,516 baskets or 4.3% were made from Styrofoam.

Did they count every one of the 572602 kratongs? And is 572602 minus 403203 not 169399, and not the 169367 quoted in the article. (I passed my O Level maths)

Are they sure a sneaky little one didn't escape.

Nice work if there was a 1 Baht coin on each of those krathongs. Or maybe kids went swimming to get the money first ????

Bangkok has 50 districts. They were no styrophone krathongs in seven of them.

We only use Krathong Baskets made from Bread which are normally for sale in Supermarkets during this period

 

Advantage of those is that the most of it is organic (except for the coins).

Khlong Saen Saep in Watthana is littered with styrofoam pieces today.
