It’s been more than a month since a sacked police officer went on a killing spree in the northeastern province of Nong Bua Lamphu, yet the families of the victims are still struggling with their grief.

“They cry. They still miss their loved ones,” said Chittree Pongsrichai, chief of Nong Bua Lamphu Home for Children and Families.

One man moved home to a farm so his surroundings would not remind him of his dead child.

In the same neighborhood, a 74-year-old woman bursts into tears every time somebody asks about her family’s empty buffalo pen. Her 53-year-old son, Waranchai Prapaspong, used to raise five buffaloes, but after he was shot dead in the October 6 massacre, the family had no choice but to sell the cattle.

Psychological aid

After 37 people – mainly young children – were shot or knifed to death in Nong Bua Lamphu’s Uthai Sawan subdistrict by the ex-cop, government agencies and civil networks came forward to offer help to the bereaved.

It's going to take more than a month to erase this memory.

I personally would think that these Folk will never " cope " with the enormity of the killings within their Community.

Why is the question even being asked ?

" Thai PBS World " should just do the honourable thing, and leave these poor Folk alone to grieve in their own way.

The media uses these cases to generate revenue. That is why they will not do the right thing and let these poor families alone with their grief.

They have no Honor. They have no Sympathy. They have no Compassion.

They are leeches sucking on the blood of victims and their families.

Doesn't generate revenue, money money money - that's all that counts.

Sadly, this sort of terrible event just goes to show how short and indifferent the news cycle is now. Almost as if it's ancient history now (same with the Terminal 21 massacre in Korat) and absolutely nothing has changed, no accountability at all, with none of the problems addressed... just a case of contrite posturing for a short time and then it's the "move along, nothing to see here" BS.
