My good d friend was 8 years overstay, and just paid 20,500 baht on an envelope when leaving. 

Not a bad deal when we all pay 1900 a year for a visa............

So this guy also had a conviction, and maybe that is the real reason for not wanting to return to China.

Known several Farangs paid 20K baht overstay fine at the airport before leaving Thailand.

 

If they got caught outside of the airport, they would serve prison time plus the fine.

Yes, I think the prison time would be a good deterrent for me.
