More than 5,000 Thai researchers have filed an official document to show full support of the draft cannabis bill to be used for medical purposes.

The President of the Association of Researchers of Thailand (ART) Mr. Pipat Nontanathorn has filed a document with more than 5,000 supporters signatures to the Thai Public Health Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

Mr. Pipat said, “We are requesting for The Thai government to put aside their differences and pass the draft cannabis bill for supporting its use for medica reasons. If cannabis is reverted back into an illegal narcotic drug it will cause major negative effects and lose the chance to further progress and develop the country. The association has done a significant amount of research that prove the positive benefits of cannabis that is being used for medical purposes and as a traditional herb for local communities.”

They are right .

Add to that the ' loss of face ' for the thai government about their constant U-turning , it has proven by many countries who already legalized it , that there are very few negative side-effects of legalizing a herb that was used by people for centuries already , anyway .
