Police say the Chinese business man known as TuHao being detained and suspected of connections with illegal night venues and drugs has refused to provide a statement and denied all charges.


Police applied to detain him for 12 days,  the court refused bail as he was deemed a flight risk.

 

A representative of four photojournalists injured in a clash between riot police and anti-government protesters at last week’s Apec summit has asked parliamentarians to investigate allegations of police brutality while officers were trying to stop protesters from marching to the Queen Sirikit National Convention  Center.


The Royal Thai Police have announced their own investigation, saying any officers found to have used excessive force would be disciplined.

  
Health officials are investigating the death of a 38 year old man who’s suspected of having Covid-19 when he was found in his condominium at Ladprao  Bangkok.


Work colleagues say the man hadn’t been seen and failed to join an online meeting, prompting a visit to his home. Authorities are awaiting results from an autopsy, and advise people with health conditions to obtain a free covid booster every 4 months. 

 

The minister for public health Anutin yesterday stressed the need for a specific law to control the legal use of cannabis, as critics call for the plant to be re categorized as narcotic.

Malaysia: world leaders have congratulated 75 year old Anwar Ibrahim after he was sworn in as the country’s  10th prime minister yesterday.

 

Several parties agreed to join the coalition to form what is hoped to be a national unity government. Financial markets jumped at the news. Speaking at a press conference last night Prime minister Ibrahim promised to represent all races and seek change, which he called a symbol of new hope for Malaysia.


Philippines: Manila and Washington appear set to  return U.S troops to Subic Bay 30 years after closing what was once their largest military base in Asia. In All five more locations will likely be developed for  US military facilities under an Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement.
