Marcus Rashford was the star of the show as England deservedly and expectedly beat Wales last night 3-0.

The resurgent Man Utd striker netted the first goal of this year's showpiece direct from a free kick after a drab first half.

Phil Foden of Manchester City also netted after being assisted by Harry Kane.

Manager Gareth Southgate was able to make several substitutions as the Three Lions cruised to victory over a very poor Welsh side.

Gareth Bale who was injured was substituted at half time.

England now meet Senegal who were runners-up in Group A after they beat Ecuador 2-1 earlier. This match will be at 2 am next Monday morning, Thai time.

In other Group B action the USA held on to beat Iran 1-0 thanks to a goal by Chelsea's Christian Pulisic who was injured in the process after a collision with the Iranian goalie and did not make the second half.

He could miss the next game that is against group A winners the Netherlands who dominated hosts Qatar 2-0 in a complete mismatch.

The Qataris had already been sent packing from their own World Cup having lost both their opening games.

Tonight's action (Thai times) sees Group D action at 10 pm with Australia meeting Denmark and France playing Tunisia.

France have already qualified but the second place is up for grabs.

The winners of this group will play the runners-up in Group C with the runners-up playing the Group C winners.

Group C action is at 2 am Thai time tonight.

Poland take on Argentina with Saudi Arabi meeting Mexico.

All can still qualify but both Poland and Argentina will go through if both matches are drawn.

However, given a win for either Poland or Argentina opens up the prospect of superstars Lionel Messi or Robert Lewandoski not making the knockout stages.

Brazil remain the strong favorites to lift the iconic trophy come December 18th but England's fans are beginning to muster "it's coming home" feelings and are 9-1 fourth favorites.

Senegal, rated at 200-1, will provide stiff opposition in the round of 16, however.
