An alleged robber was shot dead and one of his accompliceswas injured when four men tried to rob a gold shop in Mueang district of Thailand’s western province of Tak this afternoon (Thursday).

The four men arrived at the shop, opposite the Tak Pittayakhom School, on two motorcycles. One of them fired ashot into the air from a handgun and then tried to break into the shop using hand tools.

The gold shop-owner opened fire at them, forcing them to turn and run. Five more shots were fired by the shop owner, killing one and injuring another, who was later arrested by the police.

oops. had the chance to stop to let the situation die down as the perps were running away. chose to unload further shows clear intent. a minimum charge of manslaughter should be handed down.

oh the wonderful things we humans will do trapped in this stupid money system.

Is that so he did not have to shoot them

Like the wild west.  Why didn't they say what gun the shop keeper used.  Does it look like the thieves never got inside the store?

I think he did for his own future safety, a failed robbery, ID probably revealed to him, have guns already in hand. Many thai people will kill you for looking at their girlfriends bottom, let alone potentially fingering you for armed robbery !

in general it is illegal to shoot someone when they are running from you and no longer a threat.

The 'alleged' seems a bit redundant.

A semi-auto 12 gauge.

Yep. Shooting at them in the shop seems reasonable (If four guys, at least two of whom are visibly armed, break into your place of business, do you politely ask them to leave), but the guy in the shop also kept shooting at them once they were outside.

At least one won't be comitting any more armed robberies.

I read on news the gold shop owner had a massive gun collection and was a champion marksman with a picture of the gun used it looked like an automatic assault rife rob me no more ????

Hosing the street down? Don't talk <deleted>, he didn't use a machine gun!

In my country that would be considered "cruel and unusual punishment".

I know of a few unsuspecting golden geese that succumbed.

The only mistake the shopkeeper made was not killing all four of them.  imo

Too bad the shop owner only got two perps. All four dead perps would be a better world to live in.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Tony Martin went down for manslaughter in the UK for the exact same thing.
