Maj-Gen Achayon Kraithong told Siam Rath that Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha would be presiding over the opening of an exhibition on the ground floor of RTP HQ today.

It is entitled: "New Year Presents from the RTP to the Thai people 2023".

It includes gifts galore though it was admitted that several favor the police themselves.

In total it involves 8 projects but the media managed to list nine things.

Top of the list was a project that promises that law enforcement will be strong and the population will be put at ease.

Thank goodness for that.

2. A commitment to strengthen communities with action against drugs according to national policy.

3. A commitment to tackling online crime.

4. Advocating good, safe driving and care for other road users.

Then it got interesting, and a bit fuzzy:

5. Solving officers' debt problems.

This "gift" was not further explained.

6 A project in which the people could see their past misdeeds struck off the record.

7. A project to keep Covid at bay.

8. Mediation centers at police stations.

and finally:

9. A jolly nice upgrade to police stations.

Conspicuous by its absence in the list of gifts was any promise to enforce the law or refrain from excepting "gifts" from the public themselves, notes ASEAN NOW.

A few were interesting....

"5. Solving officers' debt problems.

This "gift" was not further explained."..... most likely they'll be requesting more brown envelopes.

"6 A project in which the people could see their past misdeeds struck off the record."...... same as number 5.

"8. Mediation centers at police stations."....... Is the RTP now staffed by Monks?

The RTP deserves gifts if they do their jobs, but not now... When they start working they can get rewarded. That is normal and the rewards must be in line of their efforts..Decent checks at check points coming holidays.. as k for driver license, do alcohol test, check the car lights, black smoke and so on...

Mediation, not meditation.

In other words, mediation in favour of the party with the fattest brown envelope.

Oh  Puh...lee...zzz!  Just enforce the laws, and skip the idiotic rhetoric.  Sheesh, what a bunch of maroons.

5. How the hell does anyone in the RTP end up in debt?

6. Only certain people I imagine

7. What the hell has covid got to do with the RTP?

Maybe they gonna raid Krystal Klub? Nah, too late...

Childish......

Made perfect sense to me. I am on my second spliff though.

I admit to being confused. Every gift is what the police are supposed to do every day. There is nothing special among them.

Nr 1 priority - as for the other 8 presents .....????

The perfect time for regifting to someone I really don't like. ????

To make these 9 things happen it is going to be 9 more brown envelopes donation and 9 times larger!????????

Yes absolutely but first they have to comply with all of this themselves in their own cars etc.

sadly we can all be 100% sure that they will not

Best of luck with that.

I respect Thai cops and Thai culture. About 40 years ago, at Songkran in Chiang Mai, I threw a full bucket of iced water into the cab of a police ute with two cops sitting in it. They laughed and said "Chok dee bpee mai". It could have turned out much worse. I can't imagine getting that reaction in Australia. Or trying my luck again with a stunt like that.

They would have saved time and money from this so-called exhibition by actually doing their job that they're supposed to do in the first place!! Thailand has become or already is a parody of themselves.

RTP the gift that keeps taking.

How else can they achieve another promise...

5. Solving officers' debt problems.

You didn't get it, it is something you should see as a solution for point 5.

good thing this has already happened. covid is no more a threat now than literally dozens of other illnesses.

No.4. Advocate good driving?  How about getting out and enforcing the road laws? Advocating hasn't stopped the crazy drivers, driving without a licence or insurance, death traps on the road etc.

Why can they do checkpoints for drug checks and crash helmets, but not for driving licences or insurance?

Thailand AKA Manor Farm.

One more ...

Give all RTP a NYE <deleted> test for drugs.  See how many come out positive and dump them; no inactive posts.

Never short of strongly blowing their own trumpets - on the expense of the Thai taxpayers. At least there are a few things which do not change ..........

The eight versus nine disparity can be solved by changing 5 and 6 to 5a and 5b.
