Pattaya — A Swedish man was arrested by Pattaya police for carrying a loaded pistol and crystal methamphetamine in public.

Pattaya police asked to search the body of Mr. Mattias E., a 43-year-old Swedish tourist, under suspicion that he may have carried a weapon, local media reported yesterday, December 24th. Mattias was walking along South Pattaya Beach in front of Soi 13/3 when the police found him.

 

The man was carrying a “suspicious” green backpack and a small dark backpack according to police. Inside the dark backpack, police found a sachet of crystal methamphetamine, and inside the green backpack, police were surprised to find a gold Colt Defender .380 pistol with five bullets in its magazine. Aside from this, a boxful of bullets was also discovered in the green backpack.

I'd say he's feeling more like a Turnip today than a Swede.

Maybe Thailand should introduce a rule that guys who look like gangsters are not let in by immigration.

Looking at him, that guy is definitely no quality tourist.

And here I thought the meth & guns thing was only for Americans and Mexicans.

It depends on the definition of quality tourist. He fits in perfectly here in Pattaya. 

There got to be a law prohibiting these excessively tattoed creatures from entering Kingdom.

He is the last one mentioned by country or Pattaya police didn’t read the new order just next to this news

Yes, I'd be interested to know by what mechanism they determine backpack is "suspicious", "slightly suspicious", "possibly somewhat suspicious" and "It's a 'Hello Kitty' backpack, no need to search it". ????

Sad life if need drugs to enjoy oneself , where I stopped liking the life I had , I changed it

Whilst you may have a point, with the amount of folks getting tattooed nowadays, it would mean TAT would be very upset?

Ohh come on now.. We all know the RTP do not walk up casually to foreigners demanding to look in their backpacks or carrying cases. Someone tipped them off about this guy. Perhaps he opened the bag and someone saw it and told the police for a kickback. But surely, the police did not do this randomly.

Probably because he used this one.

That .380 pistol had a threaded muzzle.  It's a murder weapon.

How to know who is a sexpat and who is not just by looking at them entering the country? I think most single men entering the country are sexpats first and then grow out of it. I am most certain you have had your share of women in Thailand and perhaps now have settled down to only one. So you should not be instigating nor complaining about this in the forum. The plethora of women offering themselves to men can be inviting to any man who is here for the first time. Why label them?

Exactly. How does a suspicious looking backpack differ from a normal one.

 

More likely a tip off that he was carrying.

 

The gold plated gun screams drug dealer or mafia.

 

As for the imitation snakeskin jacket. That is an offence in itself! ????

People have no problem labelling everybody with tattoos as criminals, which is ridiculous. Why does this happen?
