Just what Pattaya needs, on top of the neverending road works and the traffic jams they cause, we'll now have hundreds of Chinese tour buses adding to the problems.

and the taxi drivers will have to check their backseats every time they drop a Chinese person off. ????

Why do you say 'dirty'?

Quarantine was for all races and nationalities, in all countries.

Prostitutes are much like any profession regarding money. Not sure what you are on about.

Some reality needed in this thread.

This is nothing at all to do with Covid. Forget about that, it doesn't matter.

It's about Chinese tourists coming back to Thailand. Like it or not, they'll be flooding in within 6 months- Covid is not a factor for that.

Keep telling yourself that. You surely don't pay much attention to the events occurring in China.

riddle time?

China is only letting people in for work, study or business. Nothing about returning tourists.

My partner is Chinese, so I'll refrain from joining the bashing or casual racism.

But, on a more serious note, Thailand could experience a large spike in long term residence via wealthy LTR. A million in assets / buy a $500k property in exchange for a 10 year residence and a work permit for you and all your family is an attractive exit option/2nd residence for rich Chinese. Thailand, when structured well, has a ridiculously attractive taxation system. The mainland exodus will also push Hong Kongers to consider exit plans.

I think SE Asia thinks it wants the Chinese to come, but I am not sure they are really prepared for the long term economic consequences post covid.

That's true. But the same announcement was coupled with the promise of relaxation for outbound tourism over the next months.

I was just watching CNN news and they said countries like Japan, and India are gonna require all people coming from China to do virus testing upon arrival. I wonder if Thailand will demand the same thing from the tours that come from China because when I’m hearing on television, there are many infected people in China. I hope they don’t spread the virus again our new variance of it TIT

Yikes!!!!

If you didn’t get paid you wouldn’t work. We almost all do it for the money and only the money.

Traveling around and Thailand hotspots like Pattaya and Hua Hin seemed packed.

Throw in a few million Chinese and all hell is going to break loose.

I already miss the good old pandemic days.

Come on Thai apologist that is what Anutin said

Thai Immigration should set up passport control in China so when they arrive en masse they can go straight to baggage claim.

2023 , millions of Chinese dying due to zero vaccines and or poorly effective sino pharm ( unreported of course) .

Huge unrest from remaining population , threat to the chairman for life and the all important party,  invasion of Taiwan in an attempt to rescue popular partisan support .

World supply chains severely disrupted once again , World economy in more turmoil , someone somewhere hovering over a big red button.

Just saying .

Cheerful Charlie lol

Yes, but at least the majority of farang will have had effective vaccinations.

As far as I know most of Africa opened long time ago, and many Africans don't have even a single shot of any type of vaccine. Yet there are no reports of mass deaths and crematoriums working 24x7. I had 3 Pfizer shots and had covid 3 times already, looking forward to the 4th time.

So the Chinese will be fine with the much weakened covid variants now.

Yes, millions dying and not reported, but you somehow found the truth, great detective work.

which are now all well past there still being effective date.

all those whatever they were that you got injected with were not vaccines ...

vaccines stop you from getting it in the first place.

Not per head they are not...Expenditure per Tourist per Region of Origin. Thailand Tourist Arrivals in 2019

You're both correct.  In 2019, Chinese were the number 1 spenders per day by country, but not individually.   You are correct that the biggest spenders per head were not the Chinese.   Those from the Middle East, if I remember correctly, spent the most per tourist but their tourist numbers were small.   If you're Thailand, do you want 10 million Chinese spending 40 some thousand baht each a day or a couple hundred thousand tourists from the Middle East spending 70 some thousand baht each a day?   I should think Thailand wants both, but likely has a more enthusiastic wave for the Chinese.

If the Thai Government let the Chinese come in 2023 we can expect an awful lot of covid to come too.

They are getting 25m cases a day according to some sources.

People in the west can read these stories too and if the Chinese are coming then maybe the westerners won't.

Because of thier government's  resistance to the fact that western vaccine is superior to thiers so they won't import it,  I just can't see how the Chinese are safe to be around....at any time in the near future

5 million a day or more are getting covid.  2023 is kinda pushing it.

If they are, they whole population will have had Covid in a month.

I've had meetings with over 50 Chinese in the last week and I'd say 20 of them had had or had Covid in the last week and many had spouses who had it. So basically everyone is getting it, which is great and they wasted 3 years of lockdown.

Don't agree I shower twice when in Thailand sometimes 3 times when it is hot
