Former Redshirt leaders have asked Thailand's chief of police to resume and speed up investigations in to the deaths of fellow protesters during clashes with the military in 2010.


An estimated 99 people, mainly civilians were killed and many more injured, so far only 37 cases reached a court settlement.

 

Airport and customs officers arrested a man at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhum airport Yesterday,  The 57 year old said to be from south Asia was found to have nearly 80 thousand medication pills of various types in his luggage.


It’s believed the man may have been involved in smuggling drugs into Thailand, he could face up to 15 years in jail along with a heavy fine.

 

The Chart-pattana-kla Party says it would like to see income tax reduced for people earning 40,000 baht or less a month and for many freelance workers. 


This group would be allowed to earn up to 300, 000 baht before paying income tax, the Party claims this would benefit around half of the workforce during a time of a rising cost of living.
  
Senior police have identified a third officer involved with providing an escort service to a Chinese tourist.


A  police sergeant apparently proposed a bespoke police escort service to a tour firm last November and appears to be behind the unusual service.


The first two off duty police officers who provided the servicehave been transferred,  investigations continue into how long this service had been operating, officers will also interview the chinese tourist to verify her video and story.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida vowed to tackle the two existential threats to his country – security and falling births, adding a “sea change” in defence policy was necessary given that Japan’s security environment is at its “most severe and complex since World War II”.


The PM was speaking at the opening of  year’s Japan’s Parliament.
