Portable Devices / Players / Phones / 'pooters .. & Batteries

The rechargeable batteries in portable 'things' are the weak link

my current mp3 player & camera were both chosen by battery options .. after previous portable battery failures rendered expensive devices (& functional devices) all but useless.

my 4 year old laptop works fine plugged in (outdated but works fine .. as I type now).. lasts10 minutes OR LESS on the battery ..HP replacement battery 3k+ Thb

some laptop vendors (Dell) offer upgraded battery options &/or second batteries at time of purchase

the new Iphone must be returned to apple after 300 - 400 charges .. = send your phone to the manufacturer for 2 weeks to replace the battery?

& the 'exploding batteries' in some laptops.

what is the best charge / recharge / fully charge / fully drain .. battery maintenance to maintain best battery life.

It's been discussed here before - any advice about charging / recharging cycles or memory effects with lithium ion batteries is bunk.

The lifetime clock on them is ticking down from the moment of manufacture regardless of use and nothing you can do will stop it.
