Sanook reported that Pol Lt Siriyakorn Khongpetchsak of the Nong Prue police was alerted to a fire at a luxury home in Moo 13 yesterday at around 1.30 pm.

Three fire engines from the Nong Prue brigade attended the scene at a house worth 20 million baht, reported Sanook.

Both the downstairs and upstairs were alight but firefighters managed to restrict the damage and had the blaze under control within 30 minutes.

The 58 year old Canadian owner of the property alerted the authorities to the fire and was pictured at the scene by Siam Rath.

Sanook noted that the living room area was a blackened shell with a grand piano taking the brunt of the blaze.

Fireman Siriwat Prajit said that water was used to control the fire before it spread further.

A short circuit is suspected.

Was worth that, hope he has insurance. On the good side, he made it out in one piece.

Someone must have been playing the Grand Piano's key's hard and fast and the friction started the blaze.....Almost like Cheech n Chong, the house was up in Smoke.....

He'll need to get the house done first.

Well that sucks, I hope he has it insured.

This is the first time I've heard of a piano bursting into flames

Good he did come out without injuries.

if he work out or drink beers - look like Gullum or whatever. Should not matter.

Then I do not wish this to happen for anybody.

shame with the house - But he was lucky.

The guy told his girlfriend many years ago that he was probably like 20 years younger so I have to say is 58 now it’s probably like 78 but you know to Thai women white guys all looked at the same age right TIT

He plays the piano.

Given his attire in the photo, he obviously was at home.  Smoke detectors and perhaps a fire extinguisher for a 20-million baht home?  Puzzling.

He is safe and un burnt which is the main thing. The house and contents can be replaced.

Because otherwise no one would bother?

Yeah he's a poster-boy for getting in the gym and working more diligently, smarter, and harder as you get older.

It it was a circuit overload with insufficient, none, or faulty circuit breaker then its an advertisement to NOT buy pre-built homes here but build your own

Having a non-Thai build manager who knows whats what with electric fit-outs of homes ala European/ Aussie standards oversee all installation.

My home was wiring designed and fitted to Aussie standards, and it was really strictly adhered to and signed off on by an onsite British engineer.

Thai's appear to have poor understanding of safe and decent regulation electrical fit-outs.

might want to look for a real electrician also...20 million and still couldn't get some one to wire a plug ..at least the guy is safe main thing eh

With respect, perhaps he was playing Stravinsky's Firebird Suite?

Spontaneous Piano Combustion.

He looks like a hobbit.
