  • Well it looks like the only way out of this situation for the immigration officers is to pay off the prosecutors lol

scrape together a measly 800k.

Measly?? Currently converts to 19,746 GBP!!

That is a lot of money for many ex-pats in Thailand and to keep it in a Thai bank for six months by law is outrageous IMO - keeping the Thai banks afloat are you??? Fortunately I now live across the border in Cambodia where bureaucratic financial restrictions do not exist and hassle free when renewing/extending an annual retirement visa.

As for "cheap Charlie's" there are those affluent ex-pats who are reluctant to put their hands in their pockets!!

wonder if Prayut and/or Prawit are involved .... hummm interesting to know the extent of that band of cronies, sure they must have had somebody at the very top that protected them for so many years

Gloating about other members immigration circumstances (if that is the right phrase?) and gleefully predicting their expulsion from the country is one of the least attractive aspects of this forum. One or two posts of late suggest that it could be taken to knew mendacious levels!

Some very nasty pieces of work floating to the surface!

And the others that are always on here blowing hard about how they have soo much money... and they buy and do soo many hi so like activities. It's the "silver spoon up their nose" types.  And then some emotionally immature person will swoop in and quote me later saying "oh, well Youuu must not have much money..."

Oh what kind of car do You drive? Definitely have a choice finger for those types.

But Herfiehandbag is right.  You guys are like the Germans who reported people to the Nazis. Not As bad, but it is the same fascist, snitch-like mentality that stains the world.

Do you think the Chinese guy in the OP is here legally?

After all, he got his Thai ID card from official places.

I don't, and don't think the people you know are here legally.

I think that is the point of any crackdown that might come. Since Chuwit exposed the extensiveness of Chinese triads operating in Bangkok and elsewhere, it's clear that a lot of immigration falsifying of documents is going on. I don't want triads or Russian gangsters here. Not only will they make things more dangerous in terms of violence and financial fraud, they'll destroy the price structure, especially for Thai people. I don't really think that the small fry will be caught up in this. But they might. The problem of a growing foreign criminal class, however, is a greater threat that needs some sort of resolution that gets them out of here.

I hope all are convicted, fined in excess of 10,000 baht, lose their job and benefits, and get jailed for at least one year.

BJ will need plastic surgery to wipe the smile off his handsome face.

Whatever, it’s good news , actually seeing these people being public ally caught and accused.
I think BJ has done a great job , and Rooster, I like his smile as it is !!!

An off topic baiting post about reporting illegal immigrants in your home country and the replies have been removed.

The probe into visa scandal, in which immigration police officers and several local administration officials are implicated, is an extension of an investigation into the conduct of a handful of immigration police officers…

Well, then don’t just stop at 110 - keep extending!

Can see why big porridge was shuffled away from immigration at first attempt...he's coming for EVERYONE including immi. officers..haha.

This is like that horse meat scandal years ago. Its too big to go down. Now its been publically investigated they can grease these wheels year after year and the head honchos will now rest comfortably knowing they are getting a bigger cut, going forward.

Its a negotiation tactic.

Didn’t we hear a week ago that we can all trust the RTP?

There are at least a 1000 more Joe Ferraris in Thailand for sure.

Getting resigned to new locations will teach them

Is this going to affect being able to get a retirement visa extension  without 800 000 Baht in the bank ?

No. This is not about a change in the criteria and requirements for extensions of stay.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Removed and will continue to remove off-topic posts and the replies to them. This topic is about immigration police officers charged in visa scandals, not about applicants for extensions of stay, the application rules, so-called visa agents, procreation, to mention just a few of the off-topic comments I have seen.
