PM’s party lashes out at MP Rangsiman Rome’s ‘irresponsible’ revelations in parliament last week

Bangkok MP Rangsiman Rome of the Move Forward Party ruffled many feathers last week with sensational corruption claims. These have struck a chord at a time when the kingdom is rocked by a crisis of confidence over corruption, both within the Royal Thai Police and among top officials. One of his claims related to a wealthy Thai senator who he alleges owns the land on which the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC)’s headquarters is located. This is the political party behind General Prayut’s bid to be reelected as PM. The allegation was condemned by party officials on Monday as irresponsible and misleading to the public. It comes after General Prayut strongly rejected claims that he had failed to combat corruption.

Series of sweeping and serious allegations made by the MP in parliament who is known for his progressive politics has already led to one defamation lawsuit issued by a senior senator with reports that others are also readying to take legal action against him. The two-day debate in parliament last week was considered by many as highly damaging to the government as the kingdom faces wave after wave of corruption scandals linked to the police but with the finger gradually pointing in the direction of government officials.

On Monday, the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), the political party behind General Prayut Chan ocha’s bid to return to power in this year’s General Election came out to strongly condemn as ‘irresponsible’ claims made by the firebrand Move Forward Party MP, Rangsiman Rome, who last week revealed that the party’s headquarters were owned by a senior sitting senator who is at the centre of controversy after the MP revealed that the Royal Thai Police sought to arrest him in relation to a drug trafficking and money laundering investigation. The sensational claims made during a Section 152 debate in parliament, last week, have already led to the senator issuing a defamation writ seeking ฿100 million in damages from the Bangkok-based MP who has promised to use any court proceedings to vent the full details behind his claims.

Following a bruising two days in parliament last week during a Section 152 general debate on the government’s performance, the opposition Move Forward Party has been praised for scoring several direct hits on the government in the current climate with new corruption revelations on an almost daily basis which threatens to undermine the prime minister’s efforts to campaign his way back into the top job after the General Election scheduled for May 7th next.

Common misdirection and distraction techniques.

The scent of a general election is in the air.

LOL = Land of Litigation.  To hide the truth, sue the whistle-blowers. If all else fails, set the tanks in motion.  There is no hope for democracy in such a country.

What kind of democracy might we be speaking of?

They ain't tossing in any 112s yet?

What's the name of the senator bringing the litigation claim for 100m only the accused is named how mysteriously odd ????

Adamantly and repeated denial usually reflects truer colours.

'Irresponsible' is world's away from saying the allegation is 'totally false'.

Words fail me, no they really do.  :coffee1:

These words he speaks are true, we're all humanary stew if,
we don't pledge allegiance to the _________.
the horror that he brings, the horror of his sting,
the unholiest of men, the __________.
our minds will be his toy,
and every girl and boy will learn to be employed by the __________

No thai media outlet is going to say his name for fear of lawsuit.

I have a feeling that the longer this goes on the worse it is going to get for the PPP, PT and other parties.

Chuwit is opening the boxes slowly so that the media and the people can deal with them one at at time.  This is not going to make many people feel good as they do not know who he is going to hit next.

The big question though is how much is this going to affect the non bkk PT CM crowds.

I thought MPs were immune from prosecution for whatever they said in parliament?

The essential crux.

The long standing theatre never changes and the players just alter their roles.

The embers of revolution need to be stoked.
