what's Thai for Kool-aid ?

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD). Mixed with Soda, it's very good. And efficient.

:o

Here is a last glass of it.

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said Wednesday that his government had prepared measures to prevent baht from rising to Bt30 per US dollar.

He said the level of Bt30 per US dollar could not be allowed to happen or else it would affect the economy.

The Nation

7 month ago it was "35 could not be allowed to happen". Just before the capital controls...

over the last few decades the baht has been strong and then collapsed ,the last time was 1997, beware its due to collapse again soon .......

before 1997 the Baht was only artificially strong because the currency was pegged to the US-Dollar. any parallels to '97 are presently wishful thinking and those who are talking today about a collapse should make sure they have rubber sheets between the linen and the mattress.

:D:D

thank you for your words of wisdom.

however why ruin a typicaly good "dooms day" thread. let them play longer in those speculations.

Yes, more please! :D

The Prime Minister is a wise old man, even if they didn't teach economics at military school. But, he is quoted as saying, "his government had prepared measures to prevent baht from rising to Bt30 per US dollar." In English, and I'll bet in Thai as well, that gives the impression (the intended implication by the PM) that the Thai government can prevent the baht from rising. Isn't the foreign currency exchange market controlled 90% by gamblers such as the Hunt brothers used to be, and George Soros may still be? Does the good general and his wise lady governor Dr. Tarisa have $99 billion dollars to waste in this casino? I doubt it. Government is doing what govt.'s do: meeting, making statements, intending to make proposal to change policy. I told my Thai boyfriend yesterday, before he left to not have lunch with George Soros, that the PM and Dr. Tarisa are not powerful enough to control the Thai baht's exchange rate.

Yes, and until they admit/accept this then all their tinkering, backtracking and ineptitude will only allow things to get worse.
