Heart Medication

Featured Replies

Guys

I guess that some of you will have been prescribed heart medication

I need

Clopidogrel 75mg

Ramiprill 5mg

Simvastation 40mg

I did manage to bring some from the UK however I need to find a reliable source. Its looks like all these are made under licence in Thailand. I looked them up in Mimms. I see the guy at BNH and I know what routine tests are needed whilst taking these..

What prices are you paying please and for what quantities. I have found Zimax (40mg) at 8 baht/tablet and am waiting for a price from a chemist in Kanchanaburi.

Thanks

I pay 45 Baht per tab for 10Mg Ramipril, and 10.50 per tab for Simvastatin 40Mg.

Ramipril 5 Mg will be cheaper, but unfortunately it is one of the most expensive medications to buy in Thailand. Many heart medications, beta blockers etc are really cheap, but not Ramipril.

I get my medication from a large pharmacy in Pattaya, but previously had no problems ordering from drug stores in BKK.

I've never had any discounts for large orders, but the pharmacy I use gave me a discount card which gives me 5% off everything I buy.

Shop around and find a place that gives you the best deals. Don't buy from Hospitals.

P.S. I should add that provided your order is a reasonable size, many drug stores will order whatever they don't have in stock, but you may have to pay in advance. Just ask. They are nearly all run by Chinese, and they don't miss a trick to make a Baht or two.

It is possible to buy directly from the manufacturer or importer provided to buy in bulk, i.e. a years supply at a time, and this is the cheapest alternative of all since it eliminates the retailer's margin. Only advisable if you are reasonably sure you will stay on these meds long term and can provide either a/c storage or refrigeration (if refrigeration, not too cold, put down in the produce area).

That's very interesting. Have you any idea how I would go about ordering directly from the manufacturer?
