The Boxing Association of Thailand filed a lawsuit against ONE Championship for the use and implementation of the word “Muay Thai” in their promotion.

According to Director of Boxing Palat Suwannametakorn who pursues legal act, ONE violates the Boxing Act of 2002, specifically not following standard rules and regulations for Boxing Competition (No.2) 2013, Region 4, which rules that Muaythai fighters must pay homage to teachers, wear auspicious clothes, and dress up neatly like Muaythai fighters as seen in other Muaythai competitions nowadays.

Yet, ONE has continued to host their competitions under the banner of Muaythai.

The Boxing Director and some people saw this as damaging to the prestige of the national sport, and the lawsuit is said to prevent ONE from perverting traditional Muaythai, nothing personal.
