Thailand’s National Environment Board will meet on March 15th to consider the forest fire and haze problems, after the Office of the ASEAN Secretary-General sent a “Second Level Alert” to all member countries about cooperation to cope with the related problems.

Jatuporn Buruspat, permanent secretary at the Ministry of  Natural Resources and Environment, said today (Monday) that the problems of forest fires and PM2.5 dust in Thailand’s north and north-east have become critical in the past week, due to the more than 2,500 hotspots detected in farm and forest areas in Thailand and thousands more in its neighboring countries.

According to satellite images, from the Geoinformatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GITSDA) on March 4th, there were 6,701 hotspots in Myanmar, 2,583 in Thailand, 2,125 in Cambodia, 1,434 in Laos, 147 in Vietnam and two in Malaysia.

Suggest the meeting should be held in an oxygen tent if you want to get to the end of it ????

More jaw jaw, mumbo jumbo and no action as a result.

More wasted time...

The government could stop this overnight.

All these meetings and nothing concrete is ever done how about looking into the sugar cane burning everywhere it's hard not to see it at night but alas nothing will ever happen

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,

See you again next year

Don't 'discuss', do something already.

They have to discuss the date for next year's meeting.

Great ... more discussing ... you'll solve it soon.

... keep up the good work, and by mid May, after all the discussing, we'll surely start to have fresh clean air.

Another success story ????  till Dec, then you can start discussing again.  And in 6 months, you'll have it solved again.

Make the billionaires and politicians get out of their air conditioned/air purified offices and automobiles and make them breathe the same air as everyone else. Problem would be solved over night.

and the hotel location to meet at. they'll also need a subcommittee to approve the locale, amenities and food standards for the convention

The vast majority of the smoke could be avoided by forcing the sugarcane processors to only accept sugarcane with the leaves..........the factories can then remove the leaves, mulch them and put them into landfill sites......or sell for generating energy in a controlled environment.
