Covid-19 hospitalisation rate continues to drop around Thailand

Some good news from Thailand’s Department of Disease Control, which has confirmed that the rate of Covid hospitalisation is continuing to drop. According to a Nation Thailand report, the last week saw an average of 21 patients per day being hospitalised with the virus. This is down from 29 the previous week.

Phuket condo market expected to return to pre-pandemic level within 2 years

Phuket’s property sector continues to recover, with the condo market in particular set to return to pre-Covid levels over the next 2 years. Property consultant Knight Frank Thailand says this is being driven by the return of international tourism, adding that the pool villa market is also expected to continue growing.

Huge Haul of Meth Pills, Crystal Meth Seized in Lampang

LAMPANG, March 7 (TNA) – The police seized three milllion methamphetamine pills and almost 300 kilogrammes of crystal meth, also known as ice in two drug cases, said Pol Lt Piya Tavichai, commissioner of Provincial Police Region 5.

Bangkok’s air pollution causing grave concern in parts of the city

Air pollution very high in Bangkok

 

Air pollution has become a major concern in Thailand as the haze pollution has exceeded safe levels in 36 provinces, mainly in the North. Bangkok and surrounding provinces are also currently blanketed in smog, which is expected to continue for two more days.

Hungry elephant tips truck over in eastern Thailand

A hungry elephant gave a passing truck a gentle nudge with his trunk – and tipped the vehicle over. Nation Thailand reports that the incident happened in Chachoengsao, east of Bangkok, as the truck was being driven through the Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary.

Cloud-seeding to be used to control fires in Thailand’s western forests

The Royal Rain-making and Agricultural Aviation Department is expected to be cloud-seeding from this Saturday until next Monday to help contain fires in Thailand’s western forests, which appear to be out of control.

Minivan Driver Blames Russian Tourist’s Screams for Causing Car Crash in Rayong

A minivan carrying ten Russian tourists from Pattaya to Chanthaburi province for visa extensions crashed into a tree, resulting in one tourist sustaining a broken leg. The driver said he was spooked by a screaming tourist who mistook him for napping while driving.
