Just got 90 day Non Imm O from Chiang Mai, Questionn on 12 month Non Imm O extension

Recommended Posts

A question please for @ubonjoe or @DrJack54, I just got my 90 Day Non Imm O based on retirement from the Chiang Mai office. they told me I can apply for the 12 month extension up to 45 days before expiration of this current 90 day Non Imm O. If I apply 45 days before, will I get the 12 month on the same day that I apply or would they make me come back on another day to get the stamp? Asking as I have a flight out very soon afterwards.

Thanks for any guidance that you can provide.

Stamp same day.

Needless to say...don't forget your reentry permit.

Best to get it same visit just after they stamp your 12 month extension.

@ubonjoe@DrJack54

To get the 12 month Non Imm O extension based on retirement, do I need to get a 1 year bank statement from the bank?  This would be in addition to the bank letter stating the amount of money in the bank.

Do I need to get the bank book updated the day of application as well?

Thanks for your guidance!

As usual depends on your immigration office.

Some offices require bank statements.

If you are using income method it's a given.

If using money in bank method its bit more hit and miss.

I use a dedicated bank account for money in bank method and that has only required photocopies of bank book in the past at CW.

Rather than update on the day some folk make small deposit (100baht) and that shows both.

Update and activity.

The "bank letter" is always required and basically proof you are the owner of the account and current balance

Which immigration office?

They are on my weird list.

Think Bangkok Bank requires days+ to provide bank statements.

Other banks can do it same day.

My last extension (money in bank) the io carried on about some months with zero activity.

For my next extension I intend to obtain 12 month bank statements.

I use Kasikorn and think it's pretty painless with that bank.

If you are handy to immigration you could ask

Personally I would obtain statements. CM is anal.

Thanks, Someone I know recently mentioned that CM asks for the 12 month bank statements as well as the bank letter. I heard BK Bank needs several days to get the statements as well.

That advice is correct.

Immigration will accept the one week old statements.

The bank letter is a standard requirement.

Only takes 30 mins

Can the bank letter also be up to 1 week old or does it have to be the day of the application?

Personally I adhere to "why make simple difficult"

I do the bank letter and update bank account and show activity via 100 baht deposit on the day of application.

Granted easy as I use CW and most banks have branches there....

But really what's the advantage of obtaining bank letter early.

My first ever many years ago I obtained bank letter one day early
