In surely the most exciting match at this year's Six Red World Snooker Championships, Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh outlasted Iran's Hossein Vafaei to win the final frame of their semi final for a 7-6 win yesterday.

Vafaei, a much improved player in the last year, had several chances to put the Thai away, including a missed pink, before Thepchaiya got the Iranian in a devilish snooker.

Thepchaiya's wife and child in the audience punched the air as the Thai cueist reached the final of a tournament that has a big payday for the winner - 4.2 million baht.

In today's final starting at 3 pm Thepchaiya will meet Ding Junhui of China, the most successful Asian player the sport has ever known.

Ding looked like he was going to race away with his evening semi-final match against England's Tom Ford until a horrendous error when getting "ball-in-hand" in the sixth frame let Ford back in.

After Ford leveled at 4-4, however, Ding regained his composure to pull away and win 7-4.

Today's final will be the best of 15 frames and will be preceded by a repeat of a classic Crucible Theatre final between English legend Jimmy White and Scotland's seven time world 15 red champion Steven Hendry.

Tickets will be available at the venue, the Thammasat University Convention Centre on the road that leads out from Rangsit to the outer ring road in Pathum Thani.
