Featured Replies

So guys, most of you are American or British but I am not as you know I am from OZ but just a question to you guys, if you relay on a pension from your country, can you apply for a loan from your pension provider (in my case Centrelink) I can apply for a loan and pay no interest at all just get my pension reduced to a certain level, My monthly payments get reduced to the amount and time I applied for the money< So I all like to know is can you do this in your country or even in Thailand

I think i've read before about advances on pension payments. But would that be available to Oz pensioners living abroad?

Can I suggest you take a look at the C'link website for 2 things:

- Advances to pensioners.

- The toll free telephone numbers to call C'link at no charge from Thailand. Call them, the officers are friendly and focused and you'll get a clear answer.

Cut and paste from Services Autralia (includes C'link)

-If you are in one of the following countries, you can use our free call numbers listed. The numbers may not be free from mobile or public phones.

Thailand

Good luck.

Of course it would be available.  It it wasn't, pensioners would be up in arms about it.  Expat pensioners are a protected species.

Wrong..... wrong and wrong again.

You’re also not eligible for an advance if you:

  • are repaying one you got more than 12 months ago
  • owe a debt to the Australian Government
  • can’t afford to repay it within 6 months
  • have less than the lowest advance amount available
  • are outside Australia.

That wooshing sound above your head is sarcasm flying over.
