Putins point is that Russia left Germany after WW2 and the USA still keeps its army in Germany to this day .    Occupied in that sense , by the American army

  • Really? And who was occupying East Germany until the Berlin Wall in 1989 fell and East Germany collapsed in 1990?

  • Nonsense to you maybe but there lays the mis-understood way of how other cultures think.

Older generation....mostly yes. Younger generation , mostly not. There are thousands of Youtube videos of ordinary Russians being interviewed about the war. Surprisingly , some hate the Ukrainians and wish them all dead. Others are on the Ukrainians side and wish Putin and his cronies were dead. There are also many fence sitters, who won't even answer questions that could get them in trouble,

Germans I've met never mention it, not even on the radar

Indeed. I live there. Unless of course you count the so-called 'sovereign citizens / identitarian' nutcases.

Russia? Russia firmly entrenched in past and will stay there for another 1000 years.

Probably. And an enormous number of the immigrants the German immigrant racists refer to are actually funding their German state pensions right now.

Thats handy if you know Putin's state of mind better contact CIA.

The US is in Germany primarily as part of NATO...  However, Russia did not leave Germany until after 1989ish and were still an occupying force.

I have no idea, who was it ?

East Germany began to function as an independent state in 1949 and gained sovereignty (from Russia)  in 1955 .

It was an independent state the same way Hungary and Czechoslovakia were independent states. Or for that matter almost the entire east european/baltic bloc of nations.

No , 1989 was the year that the Berlin wall came down , Russia has left East Germany in 1955 , although the independent  East German Government remained friends with USSR

The majority yes also including the could care less contingent.

Younger Muscovys are more likely to be accessing international info.

Looking at more comprehensible chunks fascist dictator Putin has taken Muscovy back at least 50 years and young people coming up there are going to have to live what that horror at least a generation or two.

Massively false

Remembering Russia's Retreat

"It was probably just a coincidence -- but the announcement by US President George W. Bush that the US Army will significantly reduce its forces in Germany came just days before the anniversary of another military power leaving the country: On Aug. 31, 1994, the last Russian soldiers and officers of the "Western Group of Forces" (WGF) left Germany...

From a political and strategic point of view, the deployment of about 340,000 troops and their 207,000 civilian support staff and family members was no longer necessary.''

The German Govt paid the Russians 8.35 billion deutschmarks to leave. That would amount to about 4.8 billion in 1994 US dollar.

"In return, Germany eventually took over the WGF's land property (240,000 hectares or 593,000 acres -- about the size of the western German state of Saarland)."

I did mean the Russian Government left East Germany in 1955 and East Germany had an independent Government .

It was the Soviet Union forces that defended East Germany from Allied invasion post 1955

Because it was the allies that behaved aggressively in postwar Germany? Does the Russian attempt to blockade West Berlin ring any bells?  And you really believe the Russian troops were stationed there to defend East Germany from the west?  Did Russian troops defend the Hungarians and the Czechs from the west, too? You think what the Russians did there might have some relevance to what they were doing in East Germany.?

Why is this abhorrent person is still allowed to continue living that is what i don't

understand.

He has a strong and trusted set of bodyguards.

But then again so did Indira Ghandi who was PM of India until 31 October 1984, two of Gandhi's Sikh bodyguards, Satwant Singh and Beant Singh, shot her with their service weapons in the garden of the prime minister's residence at 1 Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, allegedly in revenge for Operation Blue Star.[109] The shooting occurred as she was walking past a wicket gate guarded by the two men.

Isn't doing a little research useful.

Facts are always useful and there are so many links out on the internet if a poster can be bothered to look, instead of blundering about as several posters here do and get their unverified "facts" wrong as usual.
