LOPBURI (NNT) - Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), has praised Thailand’s Ministry of Interior for its efforts in promoting sustainable villages and "fashion sustainability" during her visit to Lopburi capital district on March 26.

Alisjahbana and other UN representatives visited a temple in Kong Tanu sub-district, where they were welcomed by Permanent Secretary for Interior Suttipong Juljarern, the president of the Ladies Association of the Ministry of Interior and local officials.

The visit showcased four weaving communities, including the Mee Dee Natab group from Songkhla, Ta Kien Pom group from Lamphun, Donkoi Sustainability Village from Sakon Nakhon, and Nern Kham group from Chai Nat.

According to Suttipong, each community demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to sustainability under the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.

Concluding her visit, Alisjahbana commended the Thai people’s "fashion sustainability" movement, which the princess introduced using her expertise and experience in fashion design to lead to advancements in sustainable development, as well as increased personal income of the villagers.
