Social Media Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 A rocket made almost entirely of 3D-printed parts finally launched on Wednesday night, but it faced an engine issue three minutes into flight and failed to reach orbit. There was nothing aboard Relativity Space’s test flight except for the company’s first metal 3D print made six years ago. The start-up wanted to put the souvenir into a 200-km-high orbit for several days before having it plunge through the atmosphere and burn up along with the upper stage of the rocket. As it turned out, the first stage did its job following lift-off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, USA - a former missile test site - and separated as planned. But the upper stage appeared to ignite and then shut down, sending it crashing into the Atlantic.
thaibeachlovers Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 If real AI is ever created, it's more likely that 100% of jobs will be impacted in some way. Even less than full AI is likely to see millions ( ?billions ) of labour intensive and even white collar work become human devoid. The effects of the machine are already wide spread from less bank tellers to automated factories. 1
Bangkok Barry Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 This is a case, and not the first, of just because we have the ability to do or produce something we don't have to. It's fascinating though to watch the human race self-destruct. Like everything else, what can be a force for good will surely be corrupted and be used for the opposite. It's what humans do. It's in our DNA. 1

Those made unemployed will however remain. The inevitable outcome will be a necessity to rethink the distribution of wealth.
