No, but some people were using that as a reason for why they "accidentally" posted stuff in the ladies forum sometimes, rather than realising where they were and maybe adjusting what they wrote a bit.

Just read some of the other threads here (sorry, I've been negligent in my reading here). It is a pity some male gnomes can't help but post nasty comments, but as Sbk says, just use the report button. I am always available for handbagging and tongue-lashings.

But, there are some lovely guys who post here, offering good advice and asking questions or getting info for their gfs or wives; that is a great thing, too. And, we are not sexist, right? Face it Ladies, most modern women are smarter, quicker, stronger in terms of dealing with issues (and anyone can take a man down physically with a knee to the groin and a squeeze of the larnyx), and more capable of handling pain. But, when we complain, it is whining and always will be to the misogynists who will talk a blue streak about their woes and get commiseration from their barstool buddies.

But, this is our corner forum, as NR said. Just keep your pinkie on the report button, Gels! We'll do just fine.

Well this is exactly right, the lady mods are doing their nails, washing their hair and checking for the latest recipe, it's a tough job I think we need men to solve the problem. Let's be honest, only way to get the job done properly.

I chose the title so as not to be even more inflamatory than I was. It's a term I used in forum support, once, when talking about this very issue. Most other members seemed to get it, then & now. Sorry that it didn't meet your exacting language requirements.

Jet, I agree that we can take care of ourselves. But should we have to? Should we have to reread every post & thread we make here, to check it has no ambiguity or anything that this particular group will pounce on, before we press that "submit" button? Should we have to miss out on earthy but funny topics because we know they will be pounced on? Should we have to use the "report" button all the time? I don't like using it. I have done & probably will again, but I feel like a snitch or a prim & proper miss when I do. I prefer to tackle most comments myself, which just ends up in off-topic flaming. Not good, either. Or you can ignore it, which is the mature way to go, but again, why should we have to?

I'm glad canadiangirl commented, as some of the guys who tear her posts & opinions to shreds are exactly some of the guys I'm talking about. I've noticed the same guys pop up in threads that she contributes to & that a couple of the other newer females contribute to. It almost seems like these particular guys are on the lookout for posts by them in here & they pounce. Shouldn't she & all of us be able to write our points of view without being slagged off or called prostitutes? Just in here?

I really think the 3 strikes & you're out thing could work. Sort of like the "Ignore" function, or restricted access to places like the Loony Bin. If you're warned 3 times by mods in here, you can no longer see "Ladies". That means everyone, but that small minority who are problems are OK. Seems straightforward to me.

I have used it a few times, mainly when I peg a flamer, including your fav NR, who I reported for saying something demeaning about MTW in one of her threads. But, like you, I usually do some bashing first. We'll always get thick plank posters. They were babied as boys and grew up to be pub subplebians. Back hand to their foul mouths and we turn back to the real issues. Bothers me not.

The prostitute comment to CG irked me no end, and, as has been said, make liberal use of the report button. Boo has a baby, I have a life (sometimes ) outside TV so can't be on all the time. But the male mods are aware of these issues and are sensitive to the women's needs. Its a pity some men can't act like gentlemen but instead act like boors, but then I guess they think that the anonymity of the forum makes rude behavior acceptable.

I certainly wasn't complaining about the mods or their efficiency, sbk. I think you all do a fantastic job.

But as for the 3 strikes & they're banned; off the top of my head, I can think of 2 or 3 posters who have made far more than 3 offensive posts in here, who enjoy winding us up, but are still around. Maybe they haven't had 3 warnings - maybe some posts have just been deleted, or maybe some other members have taken them to task, but they've certainly made the comments more than 3 times. I'm not saying those members should be banned from the whole forum, it would just be nice if we didn't have to see them in here.

thanks for coming to my defence! I definitely thought that that prostitute comment was tasteless.

I'm not afraid of speaking my mind, and I can definitely defend myself if need be, as I'm sure most female posters here can. But why should we have to? Having to respond to comments like "why don't you become a hooker?" detracts from real, interesting conversations. Personally, I love conversations about relationships, men and women, cultural issues, etc. and I'm fascinated by how those things play out in Thailand. I'd like to be able to speak honestly about those topics, as I'm sure many other women do, without being a target for every

whoremonger with an axe to grind about the farang women who rejected him back home.

A suspension restricts your access to the site... Moderators can suspend members, admins can ban members... the only real difference is a ban is permanent where as a suspension has a time frame associated with it. A suspension of 999,999 days is as good as a ban, would you like me to demonstrate?

The squatters heading piqued my curiousity and that's why I'm in here now. I usually only read about the health issues in respect to the ladies.

Please don't get discouraged. One of the problems with all of the forum sections is that there are not enough women around to offer a different perspective and to temper some of the views. For those of you that grew up with boys in your family, I think you'll understand what I mean.

There have been a few threads in TV that dealt with rape and some of the comments made were downright evil. I wonder if they would make comments like that if it was their mum, sister, daughter etc. So it's not just the ladies that get annoyed.

On a poetic note, the general consensus amongst many health researchers is that the female part of the expat community has better health than the (non married) male part. You are more likely to have proper medical care and maintain healthy lifestyles. While some guy may be venting his constipated anger at you as he waits for his coronary, at least you'll be the ones enjoying life in Thailand. Keep that in mind the next time some guy upsets you.

Since it often seems to be the same men that cause problems here can't you ladies just use the ignore function? I don't like using that function myself and never do but if it's really concerning you and bringing down this section then it's worth it I would have thought.

I dont mind many of the maIe posters in the femaIe section, often it is interesting to see their viewpoint. I do agree, however, that there is a seIect few who repeatedIy seem to go out of their way to make derogatory comments.

When you stop to think about it, femaIe bashing spreads across a Iot of the forum, mainIy appIied to western femaIes. Threads which start out normaI, often sIip in digs at farang women. Comments such as "fat arsed farang girIs" somehow pop up, which often spark off further derogatory remarks, and what a 'Iark' it is for the Iads.

If truth be toId we Iadies have pIenty back-bite ammunition ourseIves, more-so in fact, if you take a Iook at the average farang man in ThaiIand, but I suppose Iike any seIf-respecting person, most of us dont feeI the need to degrade another person in order to gain ..weII whatever it those men gain from it (for i reaIIy dont know).

Now, considering some of the fIack we get in this forum for mereIy exsisting, I dont think its too much to for us to expect a IittIe consideration and respect when it comes to the 'Iadies forum'.
