Thailand to Host I MF and World Bank Annual Joint Meeting in 2026

 

 

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand has been selected by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank as the host country for their annual joint meeting in 2026. The decision was made after Thailand was evaluated by the World Bank in December 2020.

Travellers invited to enjoy the Similan Islands ahead of low season closure

 

 

Thai tourism officials say people should make the most of a short window in which to travel to the Similan Islands, before they close temporarily for monsoon season. Weatherman says current hot weather in Thailand does not qualify as a heat wave

 

 

The hot weather, currently affecting many parts of Thailand, is being caused by persistent low pressure cell, according to Somkuan Tonjan, head of the Central Weather Forecast Sub-division of the Thai Meteorological Department. It does not qualify as a “heat wave”, which is an extended period of hot weather relative to the expected conditions of the area at that time of year, which may be accompanied by high humidity.

Thai police arrest members of syndicate smuggling petrol from Malaysia

The Royal Thai Police‘s (RTP) Fuel Crime Suppression Centre recently announced the arrest of two suspected members of a criminal syndicate known as “Jae Fang” in Hat Yai, Thailand. The group has allegedly been smuggling petrol from Malaysia and reselling it in the southern provinces of Songkhla, Satun, and Narathiwat.
