Thai famous politician turned whistleblower Chuwit Kamolvisit faced off with a cannabis seller on Bangkok’s Khao San Road while public health authorities were inspecting cannabis shops for operating licenses yesterday, April 20th.

Chuwit, who is currently campaigning against the cannabis legalization policy of the Bhumjai Thai Party, happened to run into a group of public health authorities on Khao San Road yesterday.

The authorities were inspecting cannabis shops for operating licenses, while Chuwit was protesting against World Marijuana Day, which is celebrated on April 20th annually.

Famous he is. A famous crim and a famous fool. Seems to have gone completly mad.

"He was then confronted by an unidentified cannabis seller who asked him to stop his efforts, with the seller stating that smoking cannabis was better than being addicted to Yaba (speed pills)."

Nice one. ????  Maybe it's digging into his profits.

"He also showed alleged proof of an unidentified youth buying cannabis buds from an unnamed cannabis shop."????

Well there you go. You could sentence a person to death on that evidence.

:stoner:

I have yet to see the collapse of Thai society because of Cannabis legalisation. The stoners always smoked anyway, it was always available.  There are more tourists partaking than before, but hey, that's good business and nobody is getting hurt.

Meanwhile, Mr Clown continues to make a fool of himself.

That is the bit that is wrong.

I have checked out guests that were so stoned that they struggled to get dressed.

Then they got on their motorbikes and wobbled off to their next fix.

And people say that cannabis is harmless. Oh yes - it is not the cannabis - it is the people smoking it.

I think it's just jealousy.  Anutin was able to position himself to push through legalization from which he personally benefits as well as stakeholders associated with him.  And I don't criticizes him for that - good business strategy.

Now I've read here on AN that there was legislation being proposed to make prostitution legal.
Well, given Chawit's previous (current?) businesses, I'd think that that would be good for his businesses.

So now Chawit wants to destroy the cannabis industry which has now budded in Thailand (pun intended).  So if prostitution is legalized, will Anutin go after legal prostitution claiming this, that, and another?  There's a laundry list of reasons why to make cannabis illegal that rivals the laundry list of reasons why to keep prostitution illegal.  Me personally?  They should both be legal.

Well, if I had a vote?  Anutin For PM.  I think the cannabis industry is a good thing and hopefully they can grow the budding industry into exportation of cannabis, hemp, and other produces - and "Happiness To The People!"

"You must be one of those long-haired hippy pot smoker." grrrrrr

 Yeah - back in the day 60s and 70s.  And I have some bud in the cupboard but honestly, it's a rare day when I actually smoke. Given the weather and the current PM2.5 in Northern Thailand, I don't feel much like inhaling smoke.  All I need to do is step outside and I get plenty of smoke that comes with a rather unpleasant buzz if you stay outside long enough.  <laughs>

What we find with these type of comments is simply who is vehemently anti-cannabis.
I saw the same thing in the 60s and 70s.  The Frank Zappa "Brown Shoe" and "Reefer Madness" sorts of people.

"That horrible stoner Frank Zappa was a stain on humanity who was so stoned he couldn't walk onto the stage."  grrrrr  <pours a shot of whiskey and chases it with a beer>

Unlike Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, Frank Zappa didn't do any drugs at all.  Musical genius though!  200% Plus!!!

But its coming by Buddha.  Pot smokers in the gutter with crumbs on their faces!!! Stoners wandering aimlessly through 7-11 and drooling!!!  Society will end!  It's coming!!!
By the way, while your waiting, can I interest you with this Thai hottie for a 90 minute shower massage?  Usually 3000 THB for farangs but today you can have her for ฿1999 and we"ll even thrown in a condom for free!  You know, a condom to keep your hair from getting wet while you shower <wink wink>
But beware of the evil Weed!!!  ????

You may wish to reconsider your hashtag to ‘rub one out’ together considering the target of your attention was once known as the ‘massage parlour king (pimp) of Thailand’ !!!...

what's he whistleblowing about exactly?

that cannabis makes you goofy?

Did you ever have a similar experience with guests that were hungover or still drunk at checkout time ?

Did you ever see a drunk person wobble off on a motocy?

ummmm. i tried to play into that. :)

Legalizing it has and will continue to do damage especially to the youth. Give it a bit more time and you will see a generation  of zombie lookalikes roaming the streets wandering aimlessly and content with smoking dope all day to remain in their little cocoon.
Thai society is not mature enough to manage legalization of drugs.

He's not gone mad, and yes he was a crim in his past life and possibly still dabbles a bit.

But he like thousands of others have seen corruption go too far and is set on hauling in the officials.

Some crims have standards, but this regime has allowed many to cross the line.

Thankfully as a dirty farang you don't have a vote and only 3% of Thais agree with you.

Based on what evidence?  Portugal, Canada, Mexico, Uruguay, many states in the USA are not reporting any of this new "generation  of zombie lookalikes roaming the streets wandering aimlessly and content with smoking dope all day to remain in their little cocoon".

No need for statistical evidence. Would you want your teenage kid to smoke weed?  Plenty of evidence available regarding its negative effects on especially growing brains. It retards cognition.

Who said anything about teenage kids? Here's what I said earlier in this thread:

KSR the armpit of Thailand. I'd rather sleep rough on Soi Zero.

Chuwit is beginning to get on my nerves.

The legality or otherwise of weed is the least of Thailands problems.

In fact on balance, more harm than good going backwards, or many countries and US states with rule of law would not be decrimnalising it.

You can state your position on weed without embarrassing yourself.

Anyone who has ever used weed knows your check out story is either your imagination, or your ignorance of a multitude of drugs and their effect, or poly drug use.

What evidence do you have that they only used cannabis? Or used cannabis at all?

Without the science, what you saw is based on assumptions, and reads like your drug education is entirely based on the WoD propaganda pushed in the lamestream media.
