Banglamung — Banglamung Police fined several Chinese tourists for not notifying the immigration office of their place of stay.

Banglamung Police and immigration raided two houses of Chinese tourists in the Takhian Tia sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi today, April 23rd, after an investigation revealed that some individuals had not complied with regulations of the immigration office.

 

The first house was occupied by one Chinese woman and two Thai individuals. The officers ran a document check for passports and visas on the residents and found that they had valid documents and did not violate any regulations.

 

However, as for the second house, which was occupied by 3 Chinese men and 1 Thai woman, it was found that Mr. Xi Ye, 29, Mr. Jiao Jiangcheng, 28, and Mr. Li Jinlu, 34, had valid passports and visas, but they had violated the Immigration regulations by not notifying the immigration office of their place of stay. As a result, they were brought under custody and fined 4,000 baht each, before being released.

And what happened to the home owner who is responsible for the TM30 notification of guests?

That is an irritation to me wrt TM30. Many years ago it wasn't required of the tourist, it was an obligation to the property owner. Now they pursue and fine tourists for the delinquency of property owners.

It’s responsibility of the “house master”. Not necessarily the property owner.  If someone signs a lease he or she becomes the house master responsible for reporting TM30.

I'm guessing alot of TM30's don't get submitted because of the absolute pain in the backside in going to immigration these days

I believe once you get set up for doing it on-line, it is, like the 90 day report, not a big deal. 

Had to have been grassed up.

Tourists do 90-day reports?

7 brave thai men arresting 3 tourists for paperwork issues. Ridiculous. I expect a reprimand for this by the TAT

We process at least 15 TM 30's a week but we never go to immigration.

Apparently, there are things called 'apps' that work on line. Quite easy really. ????

On the table in front of them are samples of TM 30 supplied by the IOs?

How did they know their address to tell them about not knowing their address?

Why don't you tell the less well-informed of us "what Thailand is all about now days [sic] when it comes to foreigners"?

What is the real fine? Here I read 4000. On other Internet sites I read 800 to 2000, 1600, up to 10000. What is it now? And by law can the guests be fined if for instance the hotel doesn't report them?

They're Immigration Officers!   Perhaps there were suspicions that they were involved in other activities not related to the Immigration offences?

They weren't in hotels!

The person who allows them to stay in his property or the manager of it has to do the reporting. Hotel or not should not make a difference. Imagine you stay every day at a different location. You would be very busy doing this reporting as traveller.

I don't see the comparison to what tourists must report.

Do IO's check people at random to see whether they're living at the address on their TM30?  Or do they only check out people that have been grassed on. In all my bar hopping days over a 20 year period I've yet to come across any one who has been found out not residing at the address on their TM30.

Although not reporting one’s residence to Immigration is often ignored by tourists Big Joke has pledged to crackdown on this rule in particular, especially for Chinese nationals.

 

Pretty clear that this is a case of not finding/having anything criminally serious to charge them with and just luckily finding something minor to justify the raids and not lose face. 

What % of Tourists have any idea that they are responsible for filing a TM30 if the lodgings owner hasn't done so?
