Popular Post snoop1130
Danish flag carrier SAS Scandinavian Airlines will launch a direct route between Copenhagen in Denmark and Bangkok in Thailand in October this year to meet increasing demand, the airline announced on Tuesday. SAS first opened a route from Copenhagen to Bangkok way back in 1949, which was discontinued in 2014. Bangkok was SAS’s first-ever destination in East Asia. The relaunched route’s inaugural flight will take off from Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport (CPH) on October 30, coinciding with the start of Thailand’s high tourist season. The airline’s “newest and most efficient” 300-seater Airbus A350-900 aircraft will service the route thrice weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The plane is divided into three classes. Flight SK973 will take off from Copenhagen at 11.30pm local time and arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok (BKK) the next day at 5.05pm local time. The flight time is approximately 10 hours and 30 minutes. Flight SK974 will depart from Bangkok at 11.45pm and land in Copenhagen the next day at 6.35am. Both legs of the route will operate as overnight flights. dinsdale
Any guesses on a price? Economy seat. Bt25k>? I guess cheaper going there and back when it's high season here. Winter in Denmark would be nice.
bignok
You rarely hear the Danes getting into trouble. Nice people.
rabang
I am surprised SAS hasn't been operating this route for almost 10 years as Thailand is a very popular destination for Scandinavians especially in winter season. Maybe there is some competition with Norwegian and Thai at least? Finnair had I believe even up to three daily flights from Helsinki in winter season before covid and started some time ago flying direct from Stockholm as well. Norwegian flies at least from Oslo and Stockholm.

It was the worst flight ever & the most expensive in 18 years of return family visits; no overhead luggage space; no free booze; indifferent staff; bossy ground staff on the return flight; oh and a two hour delay most of it sitting on the plane!

Does that count as an overnight flight ? Arriving in BKK at 5 pm , must be the worst.

I browsed through arrivals yesterday and it looks like less crowded than the 2 PM to 4 PM time frame where many heavy weights from Europe arrive. But everyone has different preferences. Some prefer 2:xx PM to 6:xx AM flights like Thai Airways offers (sunrise over Bangkok). And I know people who go work at the office until 5 PM (bags under the desk) and rush to the airport for such a late flight. Early morning or late night is the worst. 1

Captor
SAS is owned by the Swedish and Danish state with each 21.8%, The rest is owned by a lot of different stock owners.
