A Chiang Mai woman revealed her distress after buying an electric vehicle (EV) only to find herself unable to register it with the transport authorities and get insurance for over a year. The woman claims that numerous others face the same issue.

A Facebook user named “Sipim Manassawat,” a young woman living in Chiang Mai province shared her harrowing experience about buying an EV.

The motor company promised her registration for the EV she bought after selling her BMW. However, she discovered that she has been unable to register the car and obtain insurance for over a year. This has caused her great distress as she fears driving the car, worrying that a potential accident would leave her unable to provide compensation.

She also believes that more people are encountering the same problem and is calling for relevant agencies to assist. Her post has garnered numerous comments and shares.

The Government is pushing these vehicles so why would anyone buy them or is it a Chiang Mai problem if so it has to be investigated . Contact the seller and threaten a lawsuit to get her money back .

They guaranteed registration when selling the car. However, it cannot be registered, and the transport authorities oppose this.

Why would the transport office oppose registration?

Is she just complaining about the time she has been on red plates, perhaps?

She probably bought an unapproved EV brought in by a parallel/gray import car dealer.

No such problems buying from MG or BYD or GWM.

BS !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a Volkswagen ID 3. So definitely not unapproved. ????

So the dealer promised registration, after one year this has not been done.

Send the car back to the dealer for a full refund.

According to the text the dealer guaranteed it would be registered. So, call in the guarantee and get the money back.

I followed one of these out of Landmark parking earlier today in Udon. Lao plates, looks nice. Since they're not available locally, maybe there are issues with registering non-Chinese EV's here?

Sort of depends on whether the guarantee was written or verbal, one's a guarantee, the other isn't.

Non-Chinese Teslas get registered with no issues, why should a VW EV have problems?
