webfact
Abandoning Move Forward Party to form a coalition with the parties in the current Prayut government should be the “last resort” for Pheu Thai Party, according to one of its key leaders. “For the time being, we should exhaust all the possibilities to form a coalition in accordance with the will of the people,” said Pheu Thai deputy leader Phumtham Wechayachai, referring to the ongoing attempts by eight political parties to form a post-election coalition under the leadership of Move Forward Party. Speaking to Thai PBS in an interview over the weekend, Phumtham did not dismiss the possibility of senators rejecting Pita as prime minister. “But they must come up with a good reason why they will not vote for him,” he said. The eight parties forming a coalition with a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives are committed to nominating Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat as prime minister. Do they? Really? There will be a justification check after the Yay/Nay vote? And then, if a senator doesn't pass the "good reason" inspection (carried out by good reasonable inspectors), will there be a revote, or can that senator submit a "good reason" (received from Wissanu because the senator could not make one up on his own) at a later time? jcmj
If they decide to go with the dinosaur group they are worse than I thought and believe the Thais will be extremely upset. That move should not even be the last resort in my opinion.

Popular Post bannork
In theory even if Pita is banned there should be no problem, one of the three PT candidates could step up to the plate. But maybe Phumtam is thinking, 'Yes but what happens if the senators reject our three choices? Then we have to go with someone they find acceptable, Anuthin or Pravit.' If they do that they are scum who deserve to be hammered at the next election 3 1
Sydebolle
Either way Pheu Thai is in the boat - and I get the feeling that this was intentional from the start. Should the younger voters make it, it would rejuvenate Pheu Thai; the opposite would please the dinosaurs. Sometimes you win and sometimes the others lose! Simple as that! zzaa09
More insightful observers should've seen this coming some time ago. Same as it ever was.
