On June 14, 2023, Uthai Thani Immigration Bureau (UTIB) led by Police Colonel Samruay Saman, in collaboration with nine associated units in the region, initiated 'Lanna Force Check', an operation aimed at foreigners overstaying their visas in the kingdom.

The operation consisted of thorough checks at educational institutions, public organizations, foundations, and associations, with actions extending from June 14th to 23rd at the UTIB office, reported Siam Rath.

Among the participants were employment agencies, social development and human security organizations, Uthai Thani Provincial Education Office, the Administrative Department of the Uthai Thani Province Police Station, the Uthai Thani Provincial Social Security Office, and the Uthai Thani Provincial Administration Organization.

Under the 'Lanna Force Check' operation, inspections were carried out to scrutinize overstaying foreigners who sought prolonged stay in the kingdom under the pretext of studying at government and private educational institutions, foundations, or associations.

The task force conducted inspections at three educational institutions and three foundations. While no violations were found at these locations, all entities cooperated fully and demonstrated correct and legal practices.

Police Colonel Samruay commented that this 'Lanna Force Check' operation led to the successful detention of one foreigner for overstaying their visa.

A fine was imposed for the overstay case. Additionally, one instance was reported of a residence owner or controller who failed to report accommodation within 24 hours, which is required by Section 38. This case also led to the imposition of a fine.

Overall, the operation reflects the ongoing efforts of UTIB and its partners to maintain security and order in Uthai Thani Province.

How many dead and long gone back home "overstayers" did they find?   Clearly the 90 day report is a work of unparalleled genius.

Yet the headline reads of multiple detentions of foreigners so what is it? Just the one or more?

Wow, so impressive Uniforms.

Why not show how the detention and deportation rooms look like. Because, they are hidden, because they violate all International human right standards.

AI should blame Thailand for this treatment.

They must be getting really bored. I know I am with all this bad foreigner hype.

They really do hate us non-Thais don't they. If I was trying to improve the quality of education in the country or working for a charity, I'd be pretty insulted to say the least about this. Sure, you probably have nothing to hide, but tell that to the children, admin or parents who see this taskforce coming to interrogate you in your place of work. You could say that it is defamation of character.

Good to know they are doing their job of catching overstayers and those

Who don't have the proper visas here in Thailand ????

Carry on the good work ????

BMW is the car of choice, right?

That is a lot of man power and hours of diligent work to put away one overstayer, they would want that number to increases dramatically as to not loose face.

Hey Guys, It's good to see that you are working so hard to keep us all safe.  May the (Lanna) force be with you....

I always thought an 'S' meant pleural, just goes to show how bad my education must have been  init.

Presumably the second image shows three legal stay foreigners obliged to display their passports?

Are they wearing masks because they still think it's required in the fight against covid in 2023?

Or:

Are they wearing them to try and retain some anonymity?

Must have been a busy night back at their offices cashing up proceeds of all  the brown envelopes they must have collected on their 'door knocking' escapades??

Either the problem is so small as to be insignificant or they are so incompetent they could not detect their way out of a paper bag, or both.

Every country in the western world check immigrants.
We all complain of the influx of illegal immigrants in our home countries don’t we ??

Of course, a (more reliable) Toyota doesn't have the sleuthing capabilities of a BMW!

Would you like to reread this article and remind us of the quantifiable success of this "good work". I believe the figure ”ONE ” was the result... Great return eh?....

A similar force in Bangkok is so efficient that they pitched up at the house of farang their records showed had overstayed a number of years ready to haul their prize off to the standing room only Immigration jail in Soi Suan Plu. Imagine their disappointment when his Thai missus told them he was abroad but had become a naturalised Thai some years earlier, giving them a copy of his ID card as evidence.

Oh my gawd. The Farce Force. Police state comes to mind.

Now that we’ve done spreading Covid, we can concentrate on overstaying

If its actually Chinese Triads and Russian draft dodgers and any other low life criminal undesirables they're after then just state it, I mean they actually deserve to lose face yeah?

But this article almost suggests that all Farang are targets, so we all should expect to be stopped in the streets Nazi SS style

So detention and deportation rooms you know, it seems:coffee1:

Not surprised that they only found one overstayer. The educational visa is the best for foreigners under 50. If I was a Russian I would attend every class at the Thai language school. Would not take the risk of being deported and sent back to Russia, and then ending up as cannon fodder for the Ukraine war.
