Popular Post webfact
The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has assigned Pol. Lt. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas, Commissioner-General of the Immigration Bureau, to mobilize forces in cracking down on foreign nationals with Interpol arrest warrants or engaged in inappropriate behavior while residing in Thailand. These individuals have violated the law, posing a threat to the peace, security, lives, and property of the public or have committed transnational crimes, causing damage to the country's image, reported Siam Rath. The Immigration Bureau has initiated a sweeping operation in Bangkok to apprehend foreign individuals residing in the city. The collaborative effort involves high-ranking officials from Immigration Division 1, including the Deputy Commissioner and the Commander, along with their dedicated investigative team. The operation aims to utilize the Immigration Control System and achieve the goal of identifying all foreign individuals within their jurisdiction. The Immigration Bureau suspects that these individuals have not properly submitted applications to reside in the kingdom according to the criteria and laws governing immigration. It is believed that they may have ulterior motives for residing in the country or engaged in suspicious activities or even committed other offenses. Picture: Siam Rath Bangkok, being the capital city and densely populated with numerous job opportunities, tourist attractions, and important national sites, requires this sweeping operation to prevent these individuals from exploiting the loopholes in the law, causing harm or involvement in transnational crimes and other organizational offenses. The Immigration Bureau urges the cooperation of the public in assisting with vigilance and reporting any suspicious activities, as they have measures in place to investigate, suppress, and eradicate various offenses. This includes investigating foreign individuals engaged in inappropriate behavior, violating the law, and posing a threat to the peace, security, lives, and property of the public, which damages the national image. If any citizens witness or become aware of any wrongdoing, please report it to the Immigration Bureau at 507 Suan Phlu Soi, Thung Maha Mek Sub-district, Sathorn District, Bangkok 10120, or call the emergency hotline at 1178, or visit www.immigration.go.th. ASEAN NOW notes that the term "OVERSTAY" is mentioned in the title to indicate that the focus of the investigation and sweeping operation led by Immigration Division 1 in Bangkok is specifically targeting individuals who have overstayed their visas or exceeded the authorized duration of their stay in Thailand. This emphasizes the intention to address the issue of immigration violations related to overstaying, highlighting the importance of enforcing immigration laws and maintaining the integrity of the immigration system. Popular Post ukrules
Interesting, I note that there's no such thing as an 'Interpol arrest warrant' though. Warrants are issued by jurisdictions, Interpol has a messaging system which communicates these, they are known as 'red notices'. They have NOTHING to do with issuing arrest warrants - which is why they don't exist. Edited June 15, 2023 by ukrules 8 1

Probably not. More than likely end up on the black list banning them from returning.

Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
It seems like there have been about a half dozen of these same kinds of news reports posted here lately... each being announced by the Immigration division in a different province, with Bangkok now being the latest one here..... Obviously some edict has come down from on high, and all the different divisions are trying to show they're all the ball and following orders -- even while most of the time, dodgy criminal ventures are rampant in their areas by foreigners and Thais alike, both before and after their so-called sweeps. The one place that really needs a good sweeping is the RTP. 5 1

Taboo2
I love this country's approach to immigration. The best in the world. Come in and do not violated the time they give you and leave. I wish America would be as smart as Thailand. 1
SuwadeeS
Waste of ressources. They ready should use all the ressources to crack down on the Millionss of traffic offenders. Why not do something important and save some lifes. Further, im the moment the IO lock up an overstay person, they become also an criminal because of international human rights violation for their treatment and unlawful lockup with worse conditions than animals.

Velisbef
Disturbing peace and security is a bit vague to me. Doesn't mean riding one of those big stinky loud bikes? Does it mean burping in people's face while drunk? Does it mean causing disturbance for neighbors by fighting with your spouse? Can it be making very loud noises while doing knocking boots? Sydebolle
While the BIB (the immigration is a sub-division) were, are and most likely stay unable to get the Red Bull sweetheart on the run for meanwhile 10+ years, despite TV crews could find him without a problem ........ they hunt all over Thailand to look after those dirty farang and alien. Look into your computers, EVERYthing is recorded there and just run a list of overstayers. You know where those culprits are (unlike a substantial number of semi-divine Thais who do NOT live at their registered address) and go after them without all this rannygazoo of "hunting", "coming out in force" etc. As the police is, like all other government agencies, completely overstaffed, it would be an easy task to just include this duty in their regular day-to-day scores. 1
