Why can't these Pride groups leave children out of it? Promoting sexuality to kids is wicked.

These events are what saves many children from suicide. Would you rather have a trans child or a dead child?

That's sick.

Preaching to kids about LGBTQ+++ and sexuality is quite disturbing  . Especially the really young ones.

 

Take them to the beach and let them have fun building sandcastles or something. Let them make their own minds up on these issues when they are old enough to properly understand them.

Probably ill advised from a PR pov from central.

 

The Pride for all signs were lovely.

 

Obviously the Kids Pride thing will attract reactionary attention I'm assuming mostly from westerners.

 

But the fact is there are many kids today that organically identify as gay or ladyboys etc. Not because they were recruited. Because that's how they feel.

 

Obviously they may grow up differently.

 

But regardless it is a positive thing psychologically for them to receive supportive messages from society that they are OK and valued whatever they are.

 

That sort of thing does for a fact reduce depression, poor self esteem, and suicide in LGBT youth.

 

But it was still probably not a great idea for Central to do this.

 

Comforting messages of you're OK regardless can come from other ways and for the sake of LGBTQ youth hopefully do.

 

Another thing. If a message is above a kids current understanding they tend to just filter it out. Like take a kid to a sophisticated movie with adult level themes most often they will just be bored.

Being exposed to the existence of queer people doesn't make a kid that will grow up straight queer.

I don't think the Central promotion was wise but it is hardly preaching.

When a school holds a dance and assumes all the couples will be heteronormative, is that preaching?

No, it is normal. As you said, hetero NORMATIVE.   No sense in spending time worried about the 2% who are not. 

 

Tolerance is fine, I don't think anyone is against tolerating people in all their iterations. But messaging to children is gruesome.

Agreed - consenting adults can do what they like, but people who pitch their sex lives to innocent children are warped, evil and belong in prison.

I am sure if old folks homes wanted them they would, and I am sure they have before. So what is your point? Kids are exclusively hetrosexual till they turn 18, or something? We should hide gay people away?

The percentage of LGBTQ people in Thailand is definitely much higher than 2 percent!

LGBTQIA is an expression of sexuality, which should be done between adults. Is twerking in front of a child sexual? How about promoting drag shows to 1 - 6 year olds, as was the case recently in Australia? That is, until the organisers received death threats from concerned parents.

Most will give a quite young age.

In retrospect I knew at age 5.

In my day people didn't come out super early which is quite common now.

I would hope that all children have no understanding of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Trans or Queer (LGBTQ) sexuality or gender preference as they are children (and I would include hertero sexuality as well). As children transition to adulthood then that discussion should be available. but for children no. 

 

So when is the straight pride festival - In the interests of gender and sexual balance shouldn't all us old boring straights have the opportunity to parade our sexuality around town?
