Excellent news for the country. Parliament can now convene and the first order of the day is to elect the House speakers and the deputies within 15 days. Followed by another meeting to select the prime minister. The elected Prime Minister will form the cabinet and be royally endorsed. We should have a civilian government in early August. ????

Sounds like a meeting between Pheu Thai and MFP has also been successful in hammering out the speaker allocations.  Lets see what tomorrow brings and then wait while we hold out breaths to see what occurs with the PM validation.

Ok and now start to make the country healthy and 21st proof......

I think he will become the new General Prem and take up permanent residence in the house he currently resides in.  There will then be the annual trip to visit him by the new PM and a kissing of the ring for a blessing of good fortune for the New Year.  Just mu view.

Sadly I don't think so. Yesterday Phumtham said it had been conceded to MF but today he backtracked after Adisorn objected.

Imo opinion MF should insist as the senators' won't let Pita be PM

Even the cynic in me is delighted regarding this news.

A change is clearly evident....

But now, it's ripe for sweeping change that benefits all - not just a handful of cronies.

Best wishes to the newly formed coalitions and incoming PM.

'The elected Prime Minister will form the cabinet and be royally endorsed'

Of course he will.  This is the will of the people.  It is the whole point of a democratic election.

I hope there wil be no hold ups at this point.

I would love to be optimistic, but this is Thailand, and someone in that coalition is going to screw up, remember Yingluck's Rice Pledging scheme?

At that point, they can fire up the tanks for Coup 22.

And we're back to groundhog day.

I really do not think Prayut has the trust that Prem had. The election results couldn't be much worse for the Privy Council's aims. There will be interesting times ahead. Two very powerful forces are about to collide

All 500 MPs-Designate Ratified Now
By Thai Newsroom Reporters

ALL 500 MPs-DESIGNATE were today (June 19) ratified by the Election Commission, capping a five-week period of the nationwide electoral process.

Election Commission secretary-general Sawaeng Boonmee announced today’s ratification of all 400 MPs-designate running in constituency-based mode and all 100 MPs-designate vying in party-listed mode after investigation had been earlier conducted into allegations of vote-buying and other breaches to the election law involving a total of 71 winning contestants vying in the former mode.

It has taken the polling agency a five-week time to hold the nationwide race to parliament and ratify the winners following the May 14 election.

Election Commission confirms all 500 elected MPs

Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) announced they are confirming all 400 constituency MPs and 100 party-list MPs this afternoon (Monday), and that they can collect their certificates from tomorrow until June 24th.

Speaking at the press conference, however, EC Secretary General Sawaeng Boonmee said that the commission still has the authority to investigate if there is any evidence that an MP was elected in bad faith. The EC can file a petition with the Supreme Court to revoke result and order a new election, which has to be completed within one year of the May 14th original election.

The EC has certified the results because any ongoing investigations cannot be completed within 60 days and they have to be fair to all sides and go through all the submitted documents, Sawaeng added.

500 members of parliament!?! :w00t:

Is this new, or have there always been 500 people? Sounds an awful lot even considering the size of Thailand, but also considering that most people in there are not wealthy. That's a lot of salaries and pensions to pay for them...

If tanks fire up it is anybodies guess what sort of a day the country will eventually be at, and how long it will take to reach that day.

Do not make the mistake of complacently (smugly?) thinking that any sort of action by the military will go as smoothly as it has before.

"Before" vanished in 2016.
