Yesterday morning, a horrific event unfolded in Chaiyaphum province when Saow, a 75-year-old local from Nong Bua Rawe, was attacked by an approximate swarm of 100 wasps (ต่อหัวเสือ) his garden. The wasp stings inflicted severe injuries, leaving him unconscious.

In the ensuing chaos, family members rushed to alert local officials, facilitating his immediate transfer to Chaiyaphum hospital. Despite their efforts, the elderly man could not endure the venomous onslaught and passed away by the afternoon, reported 77kaoded.

The site of the calamity was his home garden, doubling as a banana farm for his trade. Investigators found the wasp nest nestled in a cluster of bamboo trees near a pond in the garden. To avert any future tragedies, the nest was promptly dismantled by the local Nong Bua Rawe rescue team.

I got stung by just one of those wasps. Hurt like hell. Hate to think how bad many bites would feel.

I don't think that wasps bite, just sting.  Only last year I got stung by six of them, when I got near to their nest.  The force with which they hit you plus the sting made me fall down and I felt quite dizzy as they hit the back of my neck!  The neighbour destroyed the nest by setting fire to it with burning straw on the end of a long stick!

Got stung yesterday by 5 wasps while I was cutting a hedge. It really hurts. Went to Bangkok Hospital, they gave me antihistamines, antibiotics, a balm and some pain killer plus a tetanos booster. I feel ok today but it letf a hole where the wasps stung me.
