Popular Post Social Media Posted July 5, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 5, 2023 China says the UK is sheltering fugitives after Hong Kong put bounties on the heads of eight pro-democracy activists who fled the territory. The statement from its London embassy came after the UK said it would not tolerate attempts by China to silence individuals in the UK or overseas. The eight left the former British territory after Beijing imposed a sweeping national security law in 2020. Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee said they would be "pursued for life". He urged them to give themselves up, adding that otherwise they would spend their days in fear. "British politicians have openly offered protection for fugitives," a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in London said late on Monday, condemning what it alleged was "crude interference in Hong Kong's rule of law and China's internal affairs". On Monday a bounty of HK$1m (£100,581; $127,637) was offered for the activists' arrest. FULL STORY 3

Thaindrew Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 they are being pursued for "crimes" (in the eyes of the Chinese Government) committed pre 2020, so they are in fact back dating the law and pursuing whoever they wish for political means - china is becoming an ever more dangerous place 1

spidermike007 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 China is quickly becoming the most toxic and heinous nation on earth. Kudos to the UK, if they are doing what the organ harvesters are accusing them of. Xi is a gangster and China is out of control. Defying them at all junctures is our only option. 1
eisfeld Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 The brazen rhetoric that China is using internationally is really something. Not making friends, that's for sure. 1
herfiehandbag Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Maybe they will be able to use their police offices, masquerading as consular offices, which we tolerate in the UK?

EastBayRay Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Well done the UK. while they have been guilty of taking fake asylum seekers for years, they are correct to give safety for these people from the thuggish Chinese regime.
