You could not find those 2? It took 2 seconds.

Doing a search on Air Mahan on pprune.com throws up some ''interesting'' incidents involving this airline.... not sure whether I'd give them a try!!! :o

Just try looking at their web site first.

Maybe look at the cargo section.

Or do a search....

A Swiss friend booked a ticket FRA-BKK-FRA in April 2007. It was the cheapest option, but only slightly less than Emirates at the time. He cancelled after the detention of the British sailors and flew Emirates. Figured he didn't want to be arrested for being in the wrong part of Tehran airport!

For an extra 50gbp, I'd rather take an airline that has a reputable reputation.

I think you will find that Gulf Air are probablty the next cheapest. They are not too bad, if you don't mind the inconvenient stop overs in crappy airports like Abu Dhabi and smaller planes.

Personally, I'd rather spend a little bit more and have a decent flight with a good airline like Emirates, Singapore, Cathay or Thai.

Mahan have been flying for years. I must admit I do not know anyone who has used them. Supposedly they will be using some ex United Airlines B747-400 between BKK and THR via an Armenian company to get around US sanctions if not it will be an old A310.

Thanks to all, i know it does not take too long a time to research these things but it is much better to get "personal" feedback and some posters can show how much more clever they are than me ! :o:D

THanks again!

Mahan Air was this weekend banned by UK aviation authorities from flying into UK because of safety concerns. I just saw it reported in the Bangkok Post.

UK Bans Iranian Airline

by Dylan Bowman on Sunday, 22 July 2007

British authorities on Saturday banned Iranian airline Mahan Air from operating flights to the UK over concerns about its safety record, the Department for Transport said on Saturday.

“We have withdrawn their permits to fly commercially here because we weren't satisfied that they were operating safely,” a department spokesperson told news agency AFP.

"There were a number of recent incidents which suggested a poor level of planning and safety.”

The spokesperson these included the discovery that some aircraft were operating without collision avoidance systems.

Not worth the £50 saved IMO. :o
