The stupidity is unlimited in Thailand....The EC think they are smart by waiting till the day before the PM election to decide... But they don't have a clue about the reactions...As I said earlier this week tomorrow 13th July PM elections but the 14th of July France National Holiday... Thailand will follow soon

Oh yes, that's correct. Thailand and France have already many things in common, country size, population size, renowed cuisine, popular tourist destination....

This is an uttter disgrace but entirely predictable from an outfit as corrupt as the EC.

  • And so the charade begins. Thailand is going to be plunged into chaos and there will be no winners in this round. The millions who voted for MFP will not accept being disenfranchised this time around

Excellent timing.   Clustericus Fornicatii.   There is no way Senators will vote for him now that they have an "excuse" unrelated to the unmentionable reforms.   Surprise

The blue touchpaper has been lit by the corrupt EC and all the other army and pro army, conservatives.

I can imagine a huge explosion of disgust from the population, I am happy not to be living in Bangkok.

The disenfranchisement of the people's will, will lead to a further eroding of the county's standing.

Watch (new PM back by couper) <deleted> and Fan it’s about to hit the fan………

Somebody seems to be making a lot of money out of the sudden changes in the currency markets. I wonder who that might be?

As per usual with the EC - <deleted> useless  & leave it until the last minute, 1 day (with recommended 3 day suspension) just was due to voted on tomorrow - pass the buck, to the CC (not any better),  gets them off the hook & the senators off voting , just as Too (<deleted>) if I'm allowed to say that quit as just been prosecution going on in CM

By hook or by crook they're trying everything to stop him becoming PM

Someone ordered this

DISGUSTING

Yet, as has been said many times before, this entire situation need never have happened. Pita put his own head in the noose. He should have disposed/distanced himself from the "media shares" as soon as he entered politics. To still be holding something that could be manipulated against him was simply foolish.

Do the public know who are the members of the EC and where they live? Police had better get them some protection soon, as think they will need it. Thailand is not the same country it was, people young and old alike have lost patience

Here you go. Six men who look loke they'e been keeping the local hair dye shop in business. And this is the demographic that's been keeping Thailand in the dark ages.

However, there are still reports that only 20 members of the Senate or Upper those will support the bid and apprehension that the country could be plunged into a period of political uncertainty and turmoil.

Just what some of them wanted.

Now begins the stitch up how convenient that this happens when the current PM announces his retirement from politics . I can see riots on the streets of Bangkok if Pita is stopped from becoming the PM . A sad day for democracy

Gosh they're determined to be relegated to a totally irrelevant party aren't they. Learnt absolutely nothing from the recent election results.

As foreign investors head for the hills ........ yet again.

What great timing ... Bastille Day and the cry of the French, "Liberté, égalité, fraternité"

If they vote for Pita they are done in the South. I doubt their voters are Pita supporters

This surely demonstrates the extreme corruption and impartiality of the EC. Surely they could have done this earlier, to prevent the interruption of the voting the entire nation has been waiting for, on the 13th. The EC, the toxic, army appointed senators, the army itself, and the elite had better watch out. If they mess with the will of the people this time, all bets are off.

Different oligarchs and elites fight themself for power...not worth to get hurt...it is not a democratic revolution for the people.

Another rare moment of agreement...that should have done immediately after it was known. Now it could even happen that the senators don't vote him because there is the case at the court and than 1 week later the court dismiss the case....which would be really dirty. As much as I don't want to see Pita as PM that is not the correct way

Interesting times coming up see what happens tomorrow ????

I still don't get how the executor of an estate an be deemed to be the owner of any part of the estate.

Cowardly EC just kicks it upstairs. What will the CC say? Will they have the balls to throw it out? Or just do what they're told?

Somehow, not surprised.

Having worked with and known personally several government officers, they are frankly afraid of being sued if they don't follow the law, no matter how petty it seems to foreigners.

The law states that MPs are not allowed to hold shares in a media company. It doesn't differentiate between 2 shares or 42,000 shares.

* Thanathorn ignored this. Banned.

* Peta ignored it - off to court.

Peta held the shares for many years as an executor. Years during which he could have disbursed them to someone at any time. Finally, he disbursed them this year. As if somehow he just realized the sh*t he was in.

If the constitutional court finds him innocent of holding media shares, the court could be in trouble. As many here want to ignore the illegality, perhaps the court will too and everyone will be happy.

Personally, I think Peta has been too naive by not understanding that the old guard would check everything about him to find a tool with which to remove him.

Footnote: Wikipedia says: There were recent (from 2022) attempts to revive ITV with the aim of attacking Pita. ITV's description was changed from “a holding company principally engaged in the non-financial business” to “television media” in 2022, despite the company being unable to carry out television broadcasts. The description was changed again in 2023 to “advertising media and returns from investments”.

Yes you are right about some points but please do not forget if there would not have been any shares the losing outgoing party would have

found some thing else.

People will go to the streets and protest,if it turns really violent the army will step in and take over to "save" the Thai people again.

how convenient.

About time they changed the party name as what they stand for is hardly democratic.

No surprise but genuine anger in Bangkok and across the country. This could be another 1992 moment. Don’t forget: Bangkok is orange.

Somehow hosting a cooking show was sufficient to remove an elected prime minister. The court will stoop low for political expediency.
