bangkok bank problem transfering from USD account

Recommended Posts

would appreciate feedback on the following

Have accounts at BkBk, current account as Baht currency and also have USD currency account both with online banking, I needed to transfer OUTside Thailand USD currency, accessed my online USD currency account and much to my surprise CAN NOT transfer USD out, thus went  my branch and asked why can not do wire transfer in USD as I have the money sitting on my account, answer, you can transfer USD to your BAHT account and then from Baht account transfer to OUTSide in the currency you want or you can do it at the counter and the charge is 1,500 Baht per transaction.

Meaning I transfer/sell USD to my  Bath account and then use the same Baht account to buy back my USD and can transfer out to any country you want. Requested to see manager on site,  and the lady provided same answer as the counter person, I asked her why should I have to buy USD since I already have USD she couldn't provide logical convincing answer.

Anybody knows a away around this or is it the common / standard way with other banks as well as I thought my USD were mine and could do with them as I pleased, it appears that's not the case, the USD belong to Bangkok Bank and I can not do what I want

My money in the bank is Thai money now.

I never transferred funds internationally from my Thai bank. But maybe take a look at DeeMoney. I’ve been eyeing it in case I need to do a quick transfer

That I don’t know. From what I understand it will transfer from my SC account. As I said, I haven’t used it yet. I’m sure others here have.

I forget, it was last year. You must register a foreign bank account with your Bkk online banking first. Will look tomorrow.

that's what I asked the manager to do and they said NOOOOOOOOOO, have 2 registered local accounts with my FCA thus asked them to do the same and registered a 3rd one they completely refused, I try to add it myself but no success

DeeMoney shows transferring ONLY in Thai BAHT to other currencies, however WISE does offer any currency transfer thus WISE better now how credibility is my main concern, also there appears to be a new one on the market called Remitly, if anybody has experience with Wise and/or Remitly, kindly share

From my understanding, DeeMoney will only transfer Thai฿. Wise will not transfer out of Thailand, if I’m wrong then that’s a good thing????. If you can’t do a swift transfer, then cash out, send western union. I’m sure someone here might have something better for you, but this is all I got. Wish you the best
